We're offering discounts to guests with good reviews! Send us a message and we'll let you know what we can do. We are home hosts & totally committed to keeping things ★sanitized★ while welcoming guests in our huge basement suite - and local food spots are safely delivering! Our private basement suite has 2 rooms and is perfect if you want more space without the cost of a whole house. Nearly 800 sqft, 65" TV, Netflix, coffee, mini fridge, 2 Queen + 2 Twin beds. Huge bathroom, great toiletries.

Eignin
★ The private guest suite is located in the basement level of our huge Fishtown rowhome. It has a key locking door that separates your 800 square feet, 2 rooms + private bathroom from the rest of the house.

★ The bedroom of your suite includes a Queen and two Twin beds; the other room is your private living room with couches and chairs (and another Queen bed) plus huge 65" 4K Ultra High Def Smart TV with logged in streaming services and Sling Sports (huge range of channels).

★ The basement also includes your huge bathroom with 60" marble shower (great water pressure & continuous instant on hot water) and luxurious linens & toiletries (+eco-conscious and chem-free options), mini fridge with bottled water, and complimentary in-suite coffee selection so you can enjoy your mornings in peace before heading out for the day.

★ 2 Queen beds + 2 Twin beds: All brand new fantastic mattresses, couch, love seat, comfortable armchairs and table for puzzles and games.

★ You have the whole basement for plenty of privacy; upstairs is carpeted to keep noise low. West-facing windows in the front room give the plants light; the main bedroom is in the back so you don't hear noise from the street.

★ Lots of great nightlife is right around the corner, but our street is generally quiet at night, with a little more activity on weekends (your bedroom faces the rear of the house, so it's quieter than your private living room).

★ The Girard Avenue MFL subway stop and trolley line are conveniently about half a block away. Check in is from 3pm-10pm, and just let us know the day before if you'd like to drop off/leave bags in the living room before or after check in/out!

*STREET PARKING* Two hour street parking on our block during the day; you can park overnight between 10pm and 10am for free. There are nearby blocks with unrestricted street parking, and other nearby blocks are unrestricted after 4pm or 6pm. We have one day city parking passes that guests can buy for $20 allowing you to park on two hour parking blocks in our neighborhood without a resident permit - send us a message until the day *BEFORE* check in if you want to add one to the booking. We have two handicapped neighbors, so please don't park in the handicapped spots unless you're both legal to do so and really need the space (both neighbors have mobility needs). There is also a paid lot around the corner on Front Street between Thompson and Master Streets, which is between $20 and $30 depending on day of the week.

➼ Philadelphia is the City of Brotherly Love, and our commitment to hosting free of discrimination is absolute - we want you to feel welcomed and at home. We may have other guests on the 2nd floor when you visit, and as with interacting with us, feel free to say hi or keep to yourself!

We give great recommendations - if you're looking for a restaurant, museum, or nightlife, we can recommend a great local place that (we think) you'll love! :)

Aðgengi gesta
In addition to the extra large basement suite, you're welcome to use the ground floor powder room or sit out back with a coffee or cocktail. Light kitchen use in the common area is OK (refrigerator, microwave, toaster, kettle), but we prefer that guests not prepare full meals; rinsed dishes can go next to the sink, and we'll put them in the dishwasher!

Because we have guests most nights, we cannot accommodate early check in or late check out. If you'd like to drop off or leave bags downstairs, please let us know a day ahead. We love hosting but need setup time, so we appreciate guests not arriving early unannounced. :)

Annað til að hafa í huga
★This entire guest suite can be locked for privacy but does not have a private entrance to the street. (It has a door to the backyard that you can use.)

★ We make great recommendations - if you're not sure what museum, restaurant or activity you'll like, just ask! We also include a binder of local dining & activities in the room.

★ If our guest suite is already booked for your dates, you can send us a message or click on our profile picture to see our other listings - we have several other listings, two of which include free gated parking!

★ NOTE FOR SPRING: Philly is a great walking city, and it's especially nice in the spring (Fishtown has tons of flowering trees). If you'll be in Philadelphia this spring, take advantage of the city at its calmest and enjoy walking along the Schuylkill or Delaware rivers, through Old City's historic buildings and parks, or along the Ben Franklin Parkway from City Hall to the Art Museum (and the Rocky Steps!).

*STREET PARKING* There are nearby blocks with unrestricted street parking, and other nearby blocks are unrestricted after 4pm or 6pm. Our block is limited to 2 hour parking between 10am and 10pm unless you have a temporary parking pass, which we can add to the booking for $20 until the day *BEFORE* check in.

★ NOTE FOR AUTUMN: Eastern State Penitentiary is a Gothic prison turned attraction that has tours (Al Capone stayed there!) and a haunted house in the fall. Get tickets ahead of time for the haunted house, and it's 10-15 minutes by uber/lyft, 20-25 minutes by trolley along Girard Ave, or a 45 minute walk down 2nd Street and west on Fairmount Ave (fun stuff on 2nd Street too, if you want to leave extra time for stops).

Olde Kensington, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Safe. Diverse. Friendly. Fun! We're steps to the Girard metro/subway stop, minutes walk to tons of great bars and restaurants. Several great music venues nearby (The Fillmore, Kung Fu Necktie, Johnny Brenda's), as well as arts & antiques shops, yoga studios and good coffee. Highly convenient location for local food & entertainment, plus we're really convenient to Olde City, with the experience of a real neighborhood!

"With so much great stuff close by, is there any reason I should leave the neighborhood?" (a pretty common guest question)

The answer? Rangoon Burmese Restaurant or Dim Sum Garden in Chinatown. (Also museums and super important historical stuff in nearby Olde City, but food is the first thing on most people's minds!)

At Rangoon, get jasmine tea, thousand layer bread, their garden salad or glass noodle salad, country chicken, paggan beef, coconut shrimp. Let them recommend a fish. :) Don't get dessert. Do get reservations for larger groups on weekends.

Dim Sum Garden is authentic Shanghainese (Chinese) food with really good soup dumplings, but they are cash only and there will be a wait at peak times.

Minutes walk to tons of great bars and restaurants:
★ Front Street Cafe for everything from breakfast, vegan, meat-based, GF, DF and general foodie fare (our favorite spot nearby)
★ Joe's Steaks for cheesesteaks and milkshakes (open late)
★ Weckerly's for some of the city's best ice cream
★ Streetside for great, inexpensive Vietnamese
★ Kostas for great Greek and cheap drinks
★ Good Spoon for local-ingredient soups + lunch fare (veg/an, DF & GF options)
★ Snap Kitchen for healthy pre-made meals
★ around the corner from a large Acme grocery store and liquor store
★ wide selection of craft beers available in the neighborhood (Bottle Bar East for carry out craft beers)

Shops like Jinxed Antiques, yoga studios and La Colombe are right nearby too. Barcade (vintage arcade games and good beer), Frankford Hall (beer garden + seasonal outdoor games), Fishtown Brewpub (rotating craft beer and fancy + bad for you bar food) and Fishtown Tavern (dive with good food late) are great bars within five minutes walk!

We love traveling, understanding how things work (we work in manufacturing), and helping other travelers have a great AirBnb experience! Our hospitality consulting company, Howard Street Consulting, helps hosts succeed on AirBnb by teaching them what gives guests a fantastic experience! Our manufacturing & logistics consulting company, Fremont Lancaster, offers China & Mexico supply chain solutions to Amazon and e-commerce sellers. We're big fans of history, philosophy, theater, yoga and Star Trek. Since we used to live in NYC, we now appreciate large, airy, uncluttered rooms, so that's what you'll get when you're our guest! We love meeting new people, so AirBnB is great for us. We also love plants - we'll tell you all about our plants, but only if you're interested. :) We speak some German, Mandarin, Spanish and a little French.
