Watson Place, in Town, in the Wild

Eignin
Watson Place is a one bedroom apartment, with a well equipped kitchenette, bath with radiant floor heating, and living room with dining space. We are located on a hill on a quiet street in Saranac Lake, New York in the heart of the Adirondack Park. The house is surrounded by mature trees, both evergreen and deciduous.

Features include a queen bed in the bedroom as well as a queen size sofa-bed in the living room. We can accommodate up to 4 guests. The apartment is located on the ground floor of our home and has two private entrances. It includes its own fenced yard with a fire pit, gas grill, and Adirondack chairs. The apartment features HDTV through Roku access, DVD/ VHS player, Wireless internet, refrigerator, range, coffee maker, microwave oven, washer and dryer, iron and hair dryer. Three separate thermostats allow for individual temperature control in different rooms.

Off street parking is directly in front of the rental unit, with an additional space across the street if needed. No smoking is allowed on our property. We have two dogs and a cat but they are kept separate from the rental unit. Sorry, pets are not allowed in the rental. Original artwork is found throughout the rental, including landscape photographs by your host, Barry Lobdell, who is a well-known Adirondack artist.

A wide variety of activities and entertainment are available here in the heart of the Adirondacks. Hundreds of lakes and mountains offer countless opportunities for canoeing, kayaking hiking and bicycling. In the winter months, cross country skiing trails are numerous and nearby, and Whiteface, the Olympic downhill mountain, is 30 minutes away. A 15-minute walk along Lake Flower brings you to downtown Saranac Lake, with its art galleries, shops and restaurants. Live theater is a year-round happening at Pendragon, located just three blocks from the rental. New Year's Eve features First Night Saranac Lake, with a variety of music and other entertainments occurring around downtown. At Midnight, fireworks light up the sky over Lake Flower. During February, Saranac Lake is home to the historic Winter Carnival, a 10-day celebration of the season featuring numerous athletic events, competitions for the fun of it, parades and fireworks. The Ice Palace, centerpiece of the carnival, is located on the shore of Lake Flower, a five minute walk from Watson Place. The Ninety Miler, an annual canoe and kayak race from Old Forge to Saranac Lake held in September, concludes at Riverside Park on Lake Flower. The unique Adirondack Carousel, where visitors ride on carved Adirondack animals, insects and birds, is open all year and located downtown near the Union Depot.

If you're driving, the Olympic village of Lake Placid is a short 10-minute drive away. The Lake Placid Center for the Arts features gallery exhibits, dance, theater and music performances and Friday night independent movie showings. The Olympic Center, setting for the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980, and the Olympic Museum located there, are open for your exploration. Rarely does a week go by during the winter when a major event isn't happening. Ski jumping, bobsled and luge competitions, hockey tournaments and other skating events all keep things exciting in Lake Placid. The Wild Center, an award-winning museum of Natural History of the Adirondacks, is a beautiful 25-minute drive away in Tupper Lake, while Adirondack Experience, the Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, is a drive of approximately an hour.

The apartment, although on the ground floor of our house, is totally separate and private from our living space. You have 2 entrances, one that goes into your yard that contains a gas grill, fire pit and Adirondack chairs, and the other, with French doors in the living room that lead directly to your parking space.

Saranac Lake, New York, Bandaríkin

We are located on a quiet street in the village of Saranac Lake. Even though we are close to the downtown area, 3/4 mile away, Watson Place feels comfortably private. Surrounded by mature trees, guests can sit out in their private, fenced-in yard on Adirondack chairs and, if they wish, light a fire in their fire pit.

We started the business, Watson Place, in Dec. 2012. I'm a retired educator and have lived in Saranac Lake with my husband since 1996. I love living in the Adirondack Mountains with its beautiful scenery. I take walks with our dogs, snowshoe, bicycle, and canoe. My goal is to climb more mountains. We'd love to travel to Europe before we get too old! I love to read, especially non-fiction. My husband is also retired, but maintains a fine art photography business. We worked hard getting our tourist accommodation ready and have been told it's beautiful. I've enjoyed hosting and meeting so many interesting people.
