A beautifully appointed Adobe home that can accommodate up to 5 guests nestled in the village of Abiquiu, which is considered uniquely beautiful and a quiet and serene escape from the every day to recharge and rejuvenate.
We provide a well-furnished house that is actually my family home so you won’t find a sparsely decorated “vacation rental”. We provide freshly delivered coffee, excellent wifi, and Direct TV as well as a wonderful local caretaker to help with just about anything.

Eignin
My family home for the last 40 years, nestled in Abiquiu, in the beautiful Chama Valley, in Northern New Mexico. Abiquiu is a quaint and eclectic gathering of both native New Mexicans and those in the know.

The house was completely remodeled in 2005 from the roof to the floors. All new kitchen and amazing bathroom await you and you won't find is a hastily appointed 'vacation rental,' this is our home, and it's been beautifully appointed with an eclectic combination of modern pieces and beautiful antiques.

Far from stuffy and boring, this house can be your jumping off point for all sorts of adventures in northern New Mexico, whether you're venturing into Santa Fe to peruse art galleries or headed to Taos to enjoy some fun, this house can be your idyllic escape from the hectic every day of your life.

It's such a beautiful and quiet place to be where the stars at night seem to go on forever.

The experience of being in the village of Abiquiu is such a unique perspective on life. It's not like the polished, touristy side of New Mexico; this house is located in the same place that people settled hundreds of years ago in a government land grant and continued with their lives.

The home is just a short walk to Georgia O'Keeffe's home and a short drive to Ghost Ranch. The area brings many repeat visitors and warrants new explorations with each visit. Take a drive into the Chama River Canyon to hike, visit the Benedictine Monastery, enjoy the hot springs at Ojo Caliente or simply embrace the enchanting nature of Abiquiu - allow yourself to enjoy it all.

Please know that the house is located in the highest part of the village and the dirt road and uphill aspect of the road to get to the house can be slightly intimidating although we've never had any issues with guests accessing the house.

The house has an over-step entry and a step from the kitchen to one of the bedrooms so anyone with a mobility issue could have a bit of a challenge. Also, for clarity, the main bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom and the bathroom and kitchen are also off the second bedroom. The house flows from one room to the next as with most traditional adobe homes. We recently had privacy mentioned as a concern but this is the only time this has happened but I try to be very clear with my guests so as not to mislead anyone. Additionally, the tub and shower are set up on a bit of a riser so please bear in mind that it can be a little bit tricky getting in and out of for someone with mobility issues so please be careful.

The house resides in a rural community consisting of dirt roads which a few guests have found surprising. They are generally in good condition for most vehicles but we want our guests to be informed of this.

Please be aware that this house sits next to other homes in a compound-like setting and that there are people around and there can sometimes be noise during the day.

We ask that our guests be flexible, understanding, and practice open communication when it comes to the neighbors and things such as parking and occasional noise. These are good people just living their lives, just know it's not an isolated vacation rental.

If you're looking for a unique experience, this is the house for you!

Please be aware that we charge a one-time $25 pet fee for our guests traveling with their animals. Please let us know beforehand if you'll be bringing a pet and I'll send you a customized invoice. If you bring a pet and it is not disclosed during the booking process, we will charge a $75 fee.

Abiquiu, New Mexico, Bandaríkin

It's a unique, wonderful community comprised of multi-generational families as well as many newcomers discovering the beauty and serenity of Northern New Mexico.

Abiquiú is a small unincorporated town located in Rio Arriba County, in northern New Mexico in the southwestern United States, about 53 miles (85 km) north of Santa Fe.

In the 1730s, it was the third largest settlement in the Spanish province of Nuevo México. Artist Georgia O'Keeffe lived there from 1949 until shortly before her death in 1986 at 98 years of age.

You'll find many more highlights and interesting facts about the village with a simple internet search.

Abiquiú was the starting point of the pioneering route of the Old Spanish Trail. This first route, the Armijo Route, was led by Antonio Armijo of Santa Fe, with sixty mounted men and a caravan of pack animals carrying blankets and other trade goods to barter for mules in Alta California. Armijo's caravan left on November 6, 1829, made the journey from Abiquiu to San Gabriel Mission in eighty-six days, arriving on January 31, 1830. He returned by the same route in 56 days, leaving March 1st and arriving back on April 25, 1830. Unlike the other routes of the Old Spanish Trail, Armijo's route was documented day by day by him, although in a very brief report listing dates and stopping places with few details and no distances recorded. It was submitted to the governor José Antonio Chaves and published by the Mexican government on June 19, 1830

I love travel and experiencing new places... That has changed somewhat since becoming a father but I still love the thrill of a new experience and the taste of something unknown. My favorite memories aren't necessarily a "postcard" moment but more of a sensation that drives me.
