The adorable Hollyhock Guest House, one of the 4 cottages of Painted Hills Vacation, is a lovely one bedroom European cottage surrounded by a lush private floral garden. Located in the quaint town of Mitchell, the famous Painted Hills are a short drive away and the surrounding landscapes are spectacular!

Pets?? We welcome pets but REQUIRE a $25/dog/night PET FEE (regardless of size) to be
paid via cash on the day of arrival! All pets must be declared prior to arriving! Thank you!

The Hollyhock Guest House is a cozy one bedroom cottage decorated with tasteful European style furniture. It's surrounded by a beautiful private garden that invites you to lay back in the soft grass and smell the fragrant bushes and flowers. The owners have put all their love and creativity into the cozy house and garden, creating a peaceful private sanctuary within the spectacular rugged landscape of Eastern Oregon. The cottage is ideal for family a get-together, meetings of friends or the romantic weekend for 2. Here at the Hollyhock Guest House you will sleep peacefully to wake up rested and energized, ready for an Oregon adventure.
From the bright blue porch you step right into the living room featuring a large screen TV, special sound system with a DVD player along with a collection of movies to suit every taste. The walls are decorated with paintings of a unique local artist, and reflect the rugged beauty of this area. The comfortable sofa is a queen size hide-a-bed. Cozy down blankets and linens are provided.
The bedroom has a comfortable double bed with a high quality mattress, and down blankets with colorful linens. From here, you can step out into your own private garden for your morning coffee, or to relax under the trees in the lawn chairs.
The bathroom has been remodeled and features custom-built wood cabinets, vanity mirrors and a combination tub/shower unit. It is well stocked with large fluffy towels, and French lavender soap. The kitchen has all the equipment necessary to make cooking a fun and easy experience. It is stocked with the basic condiments, an assortment of herbs and spices as well as gourmet cookware, blender, microwave, and a Senseo coffee machine (bring your own espresso pads or buy them from us). In the warm seasons you can dine on the porch surrounded by flowering trees and shrubs, while on colder days you can enjoy your meals in the cozy inside dining area. The extra remodeled barn-room is available for hanging out to play games, read, or watch a movie, and can sleep two more people in a cinch.

Kitchen: electrical stove with oven, microwave, coffee machine, coffee-grinder, Senseo espresso machine, blender, refrigerator, toaster, electrical water-kettle, gourmet cookware, utensils, dishes for 4, basic condiments, herbs & spices.
Living Room: air-condition, big screen TV with DVD, very good DVD selection with movies from around the world, comfy seating for four, hide- a- bed sofa (can sleep two)

Bedroom: Queen Size bed, drawers, European down comforter, linens provided

Dining Room: Seating for 4

Bathroom: Recently remodeled white tiled bathroom with large walk in shower, rain showerhead, custom build wood cabinets, vanity mirror, sink, shelf, first aid cabinet with basic necessities. Porch: Seating for 4

Garden: lawn chairs, sun- umbrella, children pool, benches& garden furniture

Laundry Room: washer & dryer, iron board, iron, laundry soap, extra towels, cleaning supplies

Barn-room (available for both houses): selection of games, woodstove, supply of firewood, seating for five, sofa, small TV with VCR, library of books and videos. The barn can sleep 2-3 additional guests in a cinch. Please let us know ahead if you're planning to bring more guests then 3

The area is spectacular with amazing views at every turn - a real geological wonderland. The famous Painted Hills are only 10 minutes away by car, and the other 2 units of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, the Sheep Rock and the Clarno Rock Formations, are between 40 and 70 minutes away by car on scenic byeways. The Painted Hills Vacation Rentals is an ideal base for exploring this amazing region and can be part of your own special Oregon adventure! Barb and Aruna Jacobi are looking forward to welcome you!

Mitchell is a little town with pioneer spirits located just off Hwy 26. It is surrounded by breathtaking rugged landscape and the famous Painted Hills are around the corner, just 10 minutes away by car.
Service: There is a gas station, a grocery and supply store with fishing and hunting supplies, a tire service station, post office, 2 restaurants, an outdoor beer garden, espresso shack, a fantastic rock museum, and 3 souvenir places.

My mother Barbara and I have created one of the most adorable places in Oregon - The Painted Hills Vacation - Cottages & Retreat! We're are having a wonderful time hosting travelers from around the world since 2008 in our 3 european style cottages close to the famous Painted Hills here in Eastern Oregon. I'm an herbalist with a bachelors of Science degree from the Bastyr University in Seattle. I'm also a cook and have had my own restaurant together with my 2 sisters in Seattle from 1990 till 200. The place was called Sisters and a popular Eatery in the famous Pike Place Market in the heart of Seattle.
My mother is a great master gardener and has created a beautiful oasis with the magic gardens surrounding the cottages. The serenity and beauty of the gardens are a special treat for all our guests. We both love to welcome travelers to this special area - a geological wonderland with no light or noise pollution where we are close to nature and the landscapes are breathtaking.
