I would like to begin by providing you with the latest Hawaii COVID-19 INFO.:

As I'm sure you are aware, the recent issues with Covid-19 have been developing day by day.

Hawaii continues to lead the country with the lowest numbers of COVID-19 cases (per capita), the lowest number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 (per capita), and the lowest number of deaths due to COVID-19 (per capita).

The government has set into motion a mandatory self quarantine (for up to 14 days) for all incoming travelers to Hawaii. This mandatory self quarantine went into effect on Thursday, March 26th and applies to tourists vacationing in Hawaii, tourists traveling inter-island, and local residents who are returning to their Island home. All guests coming into Hawaii are responsible for paying for their own shelter during the 14 days. Per the governor, Self Quarantine can only take place at hotels or motels and not vacation rentals or condos. If your current vacation travel dates are less than the 14 day self quarantine period, than the quarantine period is reduced to match your actual travel itinerary dates.

On SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2020, the following announcement was made by our governor....

*****MAUI IS SLATED TO REOPEN TO VISITORS ON OCTOBER 15TH*******

Beginning on OCTOBER 15TH, 2020, Hawaii will be implementing a pre-travel testing program that will allow us to welcome visitors to the islands without quarantine if travel is on or after OCTOBER 15TH.

Beginning OCTOBER 15TH, arriving travelers who have a valid, negative COVID 19 test prior to arriving will be EXEMPT from the 14-day quarantine. This means that if all travelers in your party (age 5 and older) are willing to get the test (and are traveling to Hawaii from OCTOBER 15TH on), travelers will be allowed to stay in this vacation rental condo and travelers will not need to quarantine.

Travelers will also be required to fill out a COVID-related health form that will be verified upon arrival in Hawaii, and arriving passengers will undergo thermal screening to check temperatures to ensure they are lower than 100.4 degrees.

Hawaii is currently in the process of partnering with various health entities that will make the COVID-19 test available to Hawaii travelers in advance of their flight date and provide verification of test results. CVS and Kaiser are testing partners, offering thousands of locations across the U.S. Other testing partners, besides CVS and Kaiser, can be found on the Testing Partner List on websites listed below. There are also some airlines that are now participating and may be offering Covid tests at the airport prior to your departure. Please ensure they are on the list of Hawaii Testing Partners.

The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau site at GoHawaii is also a great place for reliable updates and details.

You can also look under "Special Alerts/Notices" on the GoHawaii site or you could also check the Hawaiʻi State Department of Transportation’s website for the latest news regarding travel. Recommendations for visitors and residents are frequently being updated and these are the four most popular websites.

If your booking is on or after OCTOBER 15TH and you are traveling into the state of Hawaii, please confirm that ALL travelers in your party (age 5 and older) plan to take a COVID Test (administered within 72 hours from your final leg of departure into the state of Hawaii) in order to avoid the 14 day quarantine; otherwise, you will need to stay in a hotel or motel for your quarantine, as vacation rentals like this condo are not allowed for travelers to use for quarantine purposes UNLESS all travelers already took their pre travel covid tests before arriving into Hawaii and are still waiting on their results. If this is the case, you are able to quarantine in this vacation rental until your results are available and your quarantine is lifted. Please remember to check the sites listed above in case this current information changes. All travelers must also fill out an online Health Questionnaire on Safe Travels. Information can be found on the websites above.

***ALL Out-of-state travelers arriving into the state of Hawaii must get a NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) no more than 72 hours prior to your final leg of departure from any testing location approved by the Hawaii State Department of Health. Evidence of a negative test result must be provided upon arrival in Hawaii. Without this, all passengers arriving from out-of-state will be subject to the 14 day quarantine. NO TESTING WILL BE PROVIDED UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT. The Department of Health requires an FDA-approved NAAT test from a certified CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) lab. A list of approved labs can be found on the websites above. Travelers will be required to provide printed or emailed pre test certification as evidence of a negative NAAT test result and should also upload evidence by following the directions on sites listed above. Travelers will be responsible for the cost of their pre-travel test. If travelers do not have their pre travel COVID results when they arrive into Hawaii, travelers will need to remain in quarantine until their testing results are available. Once results are available, travelers will then be able to come off quarantine.***

Travelers who choose NOT to get the pre-travel COVID test prior to traveling will automatically be subject to the mandatory 14-day quarantine that has been in effect in Hawaii for the last 7+ months. The quarantine requires that all travelers stay INSIDE their HOTEL ROOM for the entire 14 days. Quarantined travelers are not allowed to rent vacation rental condos (they can only stay in hotels/resorts for quarantining purposes if pre travel covid tests were not taken before arriving into the state of Hawaii). Quarantined travelers are also not allowed to rent a car, go grocery shopping, go to restaurants, go to the beach or hotel pool, or do anything outside of their hotel room. The quarantine is strictly enforced with hefty fines and/or arrest for those who violate the laws.

Due to Hawaii's vulnerability as isolated islands with limited medical reources, our state is taking a cautious approach to reopening. With COVID-19 still so active and uncontrolled in mainland U.S. states and other countries, Hawaii has made public health and safety the top priority. We are excited about reopening to the world. We are excited to get back to work. We are excited to welcome our visitors again! But we need to do it carefully in order to minimize the risks. We need to keep our residents and visitor industry workers safe from potential infection and make sure the islands continue to be a safe destination for you, our visitors. You can help us when you're here by following recommended protocols such as social distancing, hand washing, and wearing a mask in public places (currently required in Maui unless you are exercising at beaches and parks or you are in the ocean or pool). We have allotted extra time and extra cleaners to complete these tasks to lower the risk of infection. We are using cleaning products and household disinfectants that are recommended as being effective against the coronavirus. We are also paying special attention to frequently touched surfaces like keyless entry pads, light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, microwave buttons, faucets, toilets, and kitchen appliance handles.

~ I just can't understand why anyone would want to pay triple the price to stay in a cramped hotel room without the convenience of a full kitchen. Did you know that almost all hotel rooms in Maui are under 300 square feet?

~ Also, with our 600 square foot place, on-site parking, unlimited AC, cable TV, an in room safe where you choose the code, the 14.42% mandatory Hawaii State Tax, and unlimited WIFI have already been conveniently factored into your daily rate. There will never be any last minute surprises! Don't you just hate that, I know I do. In Maui, unexpected fees can add up fast, especially when most places charge $25 per day for parking plus additional (hidden) resort fees, and even daily fees for WIFI and the use of the in room safe. Give me a break!

~ My fees are totally upfront: the mandatory accommodation tax in the state of Hawaii of 14.42% that everyone (no matter where you book) has to pay has already been included in my daily price. That just leaves a departure cleaning fee of $145 plus Airbnb charges a small service fee (roughly 9%) for using their site. That's it!

~ Don't take chances, I've got the place you've been searching for at the BEST POSSIBLE PRICE WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF HASSLE. THIS IS IT, FOLKS!

~ Still not convinced....

~ The BEACH, a nice PARK, and Maui's only WHALE EDUCATION CENTER, complete with viewing telescopes, are directly across the street (IN LESS THAN 150 STEPS FROM YOUR FRONT DOOR, YOU CAN NOT ONLY BE AT THE BEACH, BUT YOU CAN ACTUALLY BE IN THE OCEAN). How cool is that?

~ In less than 30 steps, you will find the pool with restrooms, an extra large, outdoor jacuzzi, a barbecue area with picnic tables, an outdoor shower area, tennis courts, and tropical, lush courtyards bearing fruit trees that offer TOTALLY FREE limes, bananas, avocados, and papayas.

~ Once a regular destination for Hawaiian royalty, Kihei is home to some incredible views and six miles of stunning beaches. It is a known fact that sunny Kihei has the best climate in Maui – warm weather year-round with the lowest precipitation on the Island! In addition, Kihei is known as the pivoting point to all Maui activities. With six miles of sun-kissed beaches, it's no secret why Kihei has boomed into the island's largest tourist destination.

~ This condo is situated in a perfectly central location. It is within easy walking distance (less than 2 miles) to EVERYTHING: shops, restaurants, beaches, public parks, grocery stores, gas stations, kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, wind surfing, fishing, the "Triangle Night Life", medical facilities: you name it! It's all literally around the corner. In addition, you are just minutes away from Wailea, and only 10 miles from the airport in Kahului. For your convenience, there is also a bus stop within 100 feet from the front door.

~ You will be DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET from one of the most popular wind surfing beaches in all of Maui, and you will have a DIRECT OCEAN VIEW from the lanai, living room, dining area, kitchen, and sleeping quarters. It's truly a picture perfect, romantic setting which is conveniently located near the FRONT END of the property. Please note the unit does parallel the road, so there is a bit of road noise; however, I have added a Sharper Image Sound Soother Machine that features 20 digital, calming sounds to help you experience maximum relaxation throughout your stay).

~ Did I mention that during whale season, you can actually watch the whales breach from both the comfort of your bed or while enjoying a meal on your lanai? I can assure you that this isn't a "peek a boo" ocean view: this unit arguably has the best ocean view in the entire complex (see photo).

~ Your fully equipped, heavily stocked, ULTRA FABULOUS GOURMET KITCHEN FIT FOR A CHEF includes full size appliances, maple cabinetry, under cabinet lighting, and beautiful granite that sparkles in the Maui sun. There is also a microwave, plenty of cookware, a coffee maker, a coffee bean grinder, a blender, a toaster, a rice maker, an espresso machine, the Nutri Bullet blender, Henkel knives, a variety of BBQ accessories, and even a toaster oven. In addition, basic supplies like Olive Oil, Pam, an assortment of hot teas, salt, pepper, approximately 20 other spices, aluminum foil, saran wrap, coffee filters, and miscellaneous baking ingredients can all be found on site.

~ The custom designed BATHROOM features beautifully tiled walls, and a perfectly polished river rock floor. We were definitely going for a "Peaceful and Serene Spa Experience" when designing the bathroom. This bathroom is guaranteed to delight all of your senses!

~ The private, slate tiled LANAI boasts a breathtaking ocean view where you can watch graceful whales play, the kite surfers dance, and catch the most fabulous, panoramic sunsets and vibrant, rainbow-striped skies. It is truly postcard material! The lanai is equipped with a teak table, two super comfy, oversized chairs, and two ottomans: perfect for resting, reading, and/or outdoor dining. In addition, you are less than two blocks away from the world famous Sugar Beach – the only FIVE-MILE BEACH WALK in all of Maui!

Kihei, Hawaii, Bandaríkin

Maui has been voted the "Best Island in the World" for over 23 years. With daytime temperatures ranging from roughly 85 degrees F during the winter, it's easy to see why Maui is such a popular destination choice and the #1 island in the world.

Here’s why I think the South side of the island (where Kihei is located) is the best place to stay. South Maui really has it all! ;)

The sunny South shores of Kihei offer 6 miles of popular, sun kissed beaches with warm, balmy days and cool, tropical nights.

Typically, humidity levels in Kihei are VERY LOW and the annual rainfall in Kihei is LESS than anywhere else on island. :)

Kihei is a sizable beach town with plenty of places to eat and fun things to do. Kihei is definitely the hub for Maui surf lessons and is considered the true pivoting point for all of Maui’s popular outdoor activities.

Most of the accommodation options in Kihei will be condos with full kitchens (enabling you to save even more money if you choose to cook a couple meals at home).

Kihei is definitely less crowded and more affordable than the West side.

The beaches in Kihei are more plentiful, also less crowded, and quite a bit more accessible than those on the West side. You will definitely find more parking and better marked beaches in South Maui. In addition, most of the beaches in Kihei can be seen right from the road and Kihei offers totally free parking unlike the West side. ;)

Kihei is closer to Haleakala (hiking), the road to Hana, Iao Valley, and the airport than the West side.

Kihei is more private, intimate, and affordable than the West side.

Kihei is also closer to Paia, Makawao, Upcountry, Kahului, and Maalaea than the West side.

Kihei has the least amount of rain of anywhere on Island and is more laid back. It is not only drier but it is also sunnier. ;)

Kihei Boat Ramp is only a couple of miles from the condo. There are numerous snorkel and dive excursions that launch from this popular boat ramp every single morning offering options that include exploring the coral reefs at Molokini or swimming with the turtles at Turtle Town.

The only beach in Maui that used to be reserved for Hawaiian Royalty is directly across the street from the condo (less than 150 footsteps from your front door). It is a very popular beach for canoeing, kite surfing, viewing sea turtles and whales, or simply basking in the sun. Picnic tables, grilling areas, free parking, and outdoor showers are all available at the beach across the street. Do as much as you want or as little as you desire. ;)


~ The National Humpback Museum and Whale Education Center for Maui is just steps away (directly across the street from the condo). They offer free educational classes and plenty of free, outdoor telescopes so you can get an up close and personal view of the Humpback Whales swimming and jumping in the ocean just in front of the museum.

The longest beach walk in all of Maui is in Kihei (within 2 blocks from the condo).

Within a few miles from the condo you will also discover additional white sand beaches, fun ocean activities, several parks, loads of restaurants, groceries, shopping, banks, ATM machines, live entertainment, skate parks, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts, surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, diving, yoga centers, the Kihei Town Shopping Center, the Kihei Boat Ramp, Farmer’s Markets, dance clubs, live music, nightclubs/bars, Craft Fairs, and even several open-air Maui Marketplaces.

Hop in the car at the condo for a very short drive (less than six miles) to three, world class, championship golf courses as well as the popular and breathtaking Wailea resort area offering upscale shopping, incredible sightseeing, and romantic dining options.

Higher end resorts like Four Seasons, Andaz, Grand Wailea, and Kealani are all in Wailea which is just 5 miles South of Kihei. Wailea also has an award winning spa at the Grand Wailea (best spa in Maui).

Wailea is a resort community just south of Kihei that includes several mega beachfront resorts, some nice condo complexes, world class restaurants, and an upscale outdoor mall. The whole area is extremely lush and artistically manicured and looks just like the Hawaii of your dreams. When I’ve driven people down to Wailea after seeing other parts of the island, they’ve said “now THIS is truly PARADISE and what I envisioned all of Maui to look like.” To me, Wailea is the epitome of luxury. ;)

The Shops at Wailea is the nicest shopping center in Maui and it is only 5 miles away from the condo (very upscale).

A few more miles South in the car and you will discover the world renowned Makena area, where many famous people choose to reside.

Lahaina and Ka’anapali (West side) are a one hour drive from the main airport, and Kihei is only 15 minutes. In addition, the condo is only 9 miles away from the main airport in Kahului. ;)

Finally, worth mentioning, is the fact that there is only “one road in and one road out” for the West side of the Island. When that road gets shut down due to a car accident, you will be trapped for hours and hours (sometimes even overnight). This is one more reason why I always choose Kihei over the West side. :)
