Your bedroom is in the large attic room with comfortable king sized double bed, splendid views over the Calder valley to the medieval village of Heptonstall on the opposite hillside, and en-suite shower and toilet. Next door is a comfy sitting room/breakfast room with TV and sofa (which converts to sofabed) extendable table and chairs, fridge, microwave, single ceramic hob and pan, crockery and cutlery. (On the next floor are two bedrooms and a bathroom which will be able to be booked for guests in your family group in the near future - watch this space!) . Tier 5 "accommodation such as hotels, hostels, guest houses and campsites, except for specific circumstances, such as where these act as someone’s main residence, where the person cannot return home, for providing accommodation or support to the homeless, or where it is essential to stay there for work purposes"

Please note check in and out times are a guide, possible to be flexible around this with notice - just ask! You have your own shower and toilet accessed only from your room. There is a desk in the bedroom suitable to use laptop/do work, easy to set up (remove coffee and tea things from desk, add chair) and happy to do in advance on request.
Adjacent is your mini kitchen and sitting room with small sofabed ideal for children. Please let us know if you would like people to sleep there as we ideally need to make the bed up in advance.
The kitchen has a kettle and fridge, mini oven/grill and ceramic hotplate as well as plenty of coffee, tea, herbal teas, mugs, glasses, crockery and cutlery and there will always be a range of cereals and a pint of milk. Usually also, we'll supply fruit juice, yoghurt and fruit, and sometimes pastries too! ( these things depend on how much I am around at the time I will let you know if supplies are more basic than usual). Please let me know if milk free or gluten free options needed.
There are 1-2 spare car parking spaces available in the bay right outside the house. You can enjoy a picnic or barbeque in the large peaceful terraced south-facing garden, with lovely views. 2 adult bikes in rideable condition are also available to borrow, with helmets.

My hired cleaners wear masks and gloves to clean the rooms and all touch surfaces are sanitised, including door knobs, handrails and light switches. We aim to leave your space completely empty for at least 3 hours before you arrive.
As the attic is under the roof, there is one quite low beam in the bedroom - please mind your head!
The duvet and pillows contain feathers. If you have an allergy to feathers let us know in advance, as we can provide feather-free bedding on request.
This is our home, we keep it clean and try to keep it tidy but we hope you will excuse us when we lapse a little!

Hebden Bridge, England, Bretland

This is a friendly street in a friendly town, we are open minded, and relaxed, full of creative alternatives, Hebden Bridge was voted winner in Small Market Towns category of the Great British High Street awards (2016) and the fourth funkiest town in the world (2005) by British Airways*
The nearby National Trust woodland, Hardcastle Crags, contains many beautiful walking routes, a historic old mill, museum and cafe. On sunny days the town throngs with walkers, runners, cyclists, and buskers. Local tourists come to browse in its independent shops from traditional butchers and bakers to fair-trade goods and organic foods, bicycle and camping/outdoors shops, and small shops devoted to an eclectic range of vintage and handmade items. These all had to recover from devastating boxing day floods in 2016 and are now recovering from the 2020 lockdown - the majority are now open and welcome visitors more than ever (with social distancing measures). There is an outdoor market every day between Thursday and Sunday with a rotating theme (farmer's market, flea market, crafts market etc. At night the clubs and bars offer anything from the traditional Yorkshire pint to friendly micropubs, some with gastronomic delights and real local ales. Hebden Bridge is traditionally noted to be particularly good for music too, with the Trades club voted Music Week's Best Small Music venue in the UK 2015 (and shortlisted for NME Best Small Music Venue 2013 and 2014 ) and until recently hosted live music and open mic nights aplenty (we are looking forward to the day they can return! )
Other attractions until recently included the Handmade Parade, Piano Festival, Burlesque festival, Folkroots festival, Hebden Bridge Arts festival, Vintage Car Rally, Happy Valley Pride Festival, Wuthering Bytes Festival, Steampunk weekend, Calderdale Beer and Cider Festival, and The Hebden Bridge Dance Festival. Again, we hope they can return soon!
Walk up the hill and enter different worlds, pass through zones of woodland, patchwork fields lined with dry-stone walls and dotted with big old farmhouses, to the wild heather and bilberry-strewn moorland where you'll have your cobwebs blown away, maybe to the haunting sound of curlews. Then look back to fantastic far range views of distant hills, often bathed in a beautiful light.

Trains direct from Leeds or Manchester Victoria into Hebden Bridge station, or a drive to either take just under an hour. Then a 10 minute walk, or bus ride (buses leave station and drop off right outside house every half hour).
If driving, we are about 35 mins from Junction 24 of the M62 motorway - parking is in the bay on private road right outside the front of the house.
Being on a hillside, the back of the house is higher than the front. If coming by bus it is easier to come to the back of the house with your luggage, as all downhill or downstairs to get into house. If you're in car and park in front of house, there are a few steps up to front door. Once inside it's two flights of stairs to the bedroom.

I first fell in love with Hebden Bridge about 30 years ago, and like so many people, planned to stay a few years and then realised there is nowhere else like it and I couldn't leave! I work two or three days a week as a GP locum and also do some work from home. I am a member of a fantastic local drumming group called Drum Machine, so I'm sometimes away at gigs at weekends. I love travel, and always stay at other Air BnB accommodation if I can, I love the variety and insight into local life, from Ireland to Italy, Boston to Mexico, all so different. I'm fascinated by meeting new people and getting to know the amazing places where they live. I also love music (though not much of a musician myself, both my sons are) and occasionally have friends around for a session in my front room or in the garden in summer (I will warn you if this is going to happen). There are instruments around, you're welcome to play the guitars, piano or ukeleles anytime!

I'll usually be around on the ground floor working from home or relaxing unless its one of my working-at-work days, separated from your space by the kitchen door. I generally interact as much or as little as people want, but these days, face to face interaction is only outside. I really enjoy meeting new people, just occasionally I have to focus on work if there's a deadline to meet.
