Eignin
We hope we've made The Glass House feel like a home away from home, a place where you can completely unwind, switch off from the hustle and bustle and feel connected with nature.

Wake up to the waves, watch a sunset, pool dip, take a bushwalk to the beach, stargaze and recharging are all favourite pastimes.

This large property is split into two - the main house which is our abode, and the guesthouse which is available to you. Both have a separate entry and there are no shared areas. The houses are adjacent to the courtyard / kitchen dining area which is for your sole use during your stay, as well as the pool. We’ll give you complete privacy, but are only a knock away if you need help with anything at all or just wanted to share a glass of wine.

Your spacey guesthouse comprises of two bedrooms with king sized beds, a bathroom with bath & shower, separate toilet, living area, al-fresco kitchen, patio area, pool, lawn, and the sunset spot with a bench. The property is child friendly and has easy access for people with disabilities.

Feel free to explore the land - these 400 acres have a range of wildlife with roos, rabbits, monitor lizards, the occasional fox and if you’re lucky, an echidna. There’s also an annual ghost crab migration up the sand dunes each April, and humpback whales can be spotted from the house as they head north in winter. And we put a telescope in the room, so you don’t miss that.

There are two private walking trails to the beach which take about 15 minutes one way, or they can be combined to make a longer loop (approx. 40 mins). We often see cray fishing boats stopping by as the reef here is a great spot to drop a pot. If you want to drive down there’s a track just next to the gate, but the sand get's deeper towards the end so it's only for 4x4 vehicles with tyres suitable for driving in deep sand.

Fun Fact: The Glass House isn't actually made from glass! We named it after the cray fisherman who built this house 30 years ago. Now we’re opening up our secluded coastal home for you to enjoy.

Staðsetning

South Greenough, Western Australia, Ástralía

Our coastal stay is perched on top of the sand dunes in the historic village of South Greenough. The Greenough Flats are well known for its iconic leaning trees, old stone buildings and endless wheat fields. You'll know you're nearly here when the trees start looking like they're doing the limbo.

The village is home to many mid-nineteenth century buildings, including a few golden oldies on our road. Some claim that the area holds one of Australia's best preserved nineteenth century towns. Its history can be explored at the Central Greenough Historic Settlement, Greenough Museum & Gardens, or by driving along the Greenough/Walkaway Heritage Trail.

As well as a few walking trails about, there's a small local Wildlife Park on our road which is good for kids, or a 5 minute drive away is surf beach Flat Rocks which holds annual competitions.

Food-wise, check out our local country cafe in Greenough for brekkie and lunch (they also do take-aways). Or drive just 30 minutes to the pretty port city of Geraldton which has many great cafes (try Quiet Life Cafe, Salt Dish, Two Foreshores and Tarts and Co just to name a few), with a few good dinner options too (highly recommend The Provincial, or Old Man's rooftop bar). You can also stock up on fresh fish and seafood to cook at The Glass House by heading to the port for a daily catch.

Gero is also a gateway to the the gorgeous Abrolhos Islands, which has been liked to the Galapagos for its marine diversity. You can reach them in just 90 minutes on a high-speed catamaran with Abrolhos Adventures to spend the day snorkelling and enjoying island time.

Cray fishing is a major industry here and there's plenty of operators who'll take you out into the Indian Ocean to catch a Western Rock Lobster.

The charming seaside town of Dongara is just half hour south, with some nice places to dine, great beaches and an award-winning distillery called Illegal Tender Rum Co.

Check out my guidebook for more details about what to see & do around Greenough, and check back soon for guides on Geraldton and Dongara.

Ahoy! We’re an English/Czech couple, both easy going people with a great passion for tasty food, good wine, travel and of course the mighty nature.

Yann is a web developer, and I’m a Primary School teacher. Over the past 12 years we’ve been lucky enough to live and work in some cool places like London, Prague & Melbourne, and we’ve also spent a few years living and working in Thailand and Malaysia.

We recently left our beloved Port Douglas in Tropical Far North Queensland and chased the wind over to WA’s beautiful and wild coastline to pursue our love of kitesurfing and set up The Glass House along the way!

Look forward to hosting you :) xx
