Sea Panorama Accommodations is proud to offer the UPSTREAM apartment of ARTHUR RIVERFRONT AND SEA LODGE. the larger of 2. This quirky high quality apartment has an enormous main room overlooking lawn, absolute riverfront and surf at the river mouth.

Eignin
AN ACCOMMODATION GEM IN A GEM OF A PLACE-
The Lodge occupies a very privileged sunny, absolute riverfront position on the south bank of the river, just ~250 metres upstream of where the Arthur River flows into the sea. The Lodge's combination of the quality of its accommodation and its outlook over its fabulous view makes it the gem of the rental accommodation available in the Arthur River Village. The UPSTREAM apartment is particularly exceptional for the huge size of its kitchen, dining, living area, which has two lounging zones. The Arthur River Village is also a gem: it is the only settlement on the Tasmanian West Coast that sits astride a major river, right at its mouth. The Southern Ocean pounds on the beach and the river bar just downstream from the Lodge. The "gem" status of Arthur River Village is reinforced firstly by it being surrounded by a huge conservation park which teems with native wildlife and secondly by it being sandwiched between the sea to the west and the Tarkine Forest to its east. The river is navigable for 15 km, as it winds upstream through the majestic forest of the Tarkine

AN ELEGANT, UNUSUAL BUILDING ECHOING ITS ORIGINS-
The building is also special because it is one of a kind, being adapted from the original floor plan of the sprawling family “shack” that it was before its major adaptation and rebuild into two apartments during 2007.
The design showcases the views of the river and sea from within. The décor is clean and modern.

THE HUGE MAIN ROOM-
This 6.5x11 metre room has a lofty ceiling with interesting angles.
One of its lounging areas has a large flat screen television and the other centres around the wood stove.
This room includes a large well-equipped kitchen. The spacious dining area looks out over the river and the surf at the river mouth.
The TV is connected to a satellite feed and there is a radio and DVD player.

ALL THREE BEDROOMS HAVE FITTED CARPETS AND WARDROBES-
One has a queen bed, the second a double and the smallest bedroom has 2 bunk beds.
The foldout couch queen bed in the main room living area by the television can accommodate another 2 people.

THE BATHROOM IS SPACIOUS AND MODERN-
This includes a large vanity unit, a small shower/bath and a WC. The separate laundry has a second WC.

HEATED THROUGHOUT IN FOUR WAYS-
The sun warms the main room. In its absence, you can choose between the charm of a slow combustion wood stove (wood provided) or the reverse cycle air conditioner.
Bedrooms have thermostatically controlled child-safe electrical panel heaters.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED, APART FROM FOOD/PERSONAL ITEMS-
We aim to provide everything that you will need during your holiday, to cover those important components of a holiday: cooking, eating, drinking (well, glasses, cups and water at least), washing, social contacts, sitting outside, enjoying nature, being warm and sleeping.
All linen and bedding are provided and an iron, ironing board and hairdryer are supplied.
The kitchen has a full size oven and cook top, a large fridge, a microwave oven and dishwasher.
The separate laundry has a tub, clothes washing machine and tumble dryer,

A CHILD FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT-
High chairs and cots (with linen) are available on request at no extra cost. There are plates and cutlery suitable for small children.
The good laundry facilities help reduce the effort required to deal with those rapidly increasing piles of little peoples’ dirty clothes.
The extensive lawn between the building and the river is fenced off, with a child-safe lock on the gate that leads to the river bank and gates on paths that give access to the street on the south side of the building, so that this area is safe for small children.
For older children, there is plenty of space for them to roam safely around the village and shoreline. The nearest sandy beach is calm and sheltered and only 200 metres away, at the end of Gardiner Street.

RELAX OUTSIDE ON THE PATIO-
On the north side of the house that faces the river and sea, there is a sheltered wide patio with a large outside table for each apartment .
The patio can be shaded with the Lodge's market umbrellas.
This is a great spot for using the Upstream apartment's mobile gas-fired barbecue.

Aðgengi gesta
The gently sloping lawn between the house and river is shared between the two apartments.
The carport is reserved for guests in the Downstream apartment when this is occupied.
There is ample parking space by the entrance to the Upstream Apartment for a boat and/or a second car. The large shed is not available for use by guests.
The river bank is easily reached beyond the fenced area and is suitable for mooring small boats or canoes.

Annað til að hafa í huga
THE ARTHUR RIVER VILLAGE IS VERY SMALL. Only about 25 people live permanently at the Village. Many of the houses in the Village are holiday houses, owned by savvy Tasmanians. There are only two small shops which stock a limited range of foods. There is no fuel bowser. There are two small shops 15 and 20 km to the north of the village which have a reasonable selection of foods, but the nearest supermarket is in Smithton, ~60 km to the north-east. For guests coming from the north-west coast, it is best to stock up with food in Smithton.
PETS ARE WELCOME, BUT BY PRIOR ARRANGEMENT-
We appreciate the pleasure people get from bringing their pets on holiday with them, so we welcome these, provided you let us know in advance that you will be bringing one or two pets (no more than that).
Pets must not sit or lie on seats or beds, nor be washed inside the Lodge and be restrained from chasing the wild life.
if you bring a pet, you are required to pay a fee of $25 per stay to cover additional cleaning

Arthur River, Tasmania, Ástralía

EXPERIENCE THE REALLY WILD TASMANIA-
You will be sandwiched between the wild, virtually deserted coast and the Tarkine Forest, thanks to the unique position of the Arthur River Village, right on the rugged West Coast.
Arthur River Village is is the only easily accessed Tasmanian West Coast settlement that is right on the shores of the Southern Ocean.
Arthur River is a very popular holiday destination for Tasmanians who are in the know.

SEE WILDLIFE ALL AROUND YOU-
The Village is surrounded by the extensive Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area, which encompasses the Tarkine Forest.
This area teems with wildlife and the animals treat the Village as part of their home.
Wombats have burrows in many places within the Village and, along with wallabies, are seen frequently. One wombat inhabits the storm water drain that runs on the eastern side of the Lodge land from Gardiner Street to the river.
Spotted quolls and Tasmanian devils live within or walk through the village and are most likely to be seen at night.

GREAT FISHING AT A LITTLE KNOWN DESTINATION-
Apart from people living on the North and West Coasts of Tasmania, the Arthur River area is little known for its fishing. It is, in fact, a great destination for the fisherman, as there are trout in the river and good rock and beach fishing.

SURF AND WAVE-SAIL AT A MECCA FOR THESE SPORTS-
The coast just north of Arthur River is famed for its surf, on a variety of breaks.
Major national surf and wave-sailing events are held in the area. These usually centre on Green’s Beach, near Marrawah, 15 km away.

EXPLORE THE COAST AROUND-
The wild coast of sweeping beaches, rocky outcrops and coves on either side of the Arthur River mouth is easily reached on foot from the village. More distant parts of the coastline to both south and north can be accessed at multiple points by road.

BOAT UP THE RIVER INTO THE TARKINE-
The magnificent Tarkine Forest can be visited by taking a boat up the Arthur River from the Village for up to 15km in a tinnie and much further in a canoe.
You can bring your own vessel which you can launch into the river from the boat ramp just down the road, then keep it at the riverbank in front of the Lodge.
No boat? Then hire a boat or canoe in the village from the Boat Hire.
If you do not want to be your own skipper, you can catch an Arthur River Cruise on the George Robinson, which runs up the river virtually every day, apart from mid-winter. This cruise stops deep in the forest for a barbecue and conducted walk through the forest. This characterful boat leaves just across the river from the Lodge. Book early.

SO MUCH TO SEE IN THE AREA AROUND-
There are many other attractions within a 100km radius, including pretty, historic Stanley, which offers tours of Highfield House and boat trips to a seal colony. You can climb the Nut, which is a volcanic plug that looms above Stanley. The faint-hearted can catch the chair lift.
Other attractions are the Tarkine Forest Experience at Dismal Swamp, on the road to Smithton; the huge dairy and wind farm at Woolnorth, right on the top left corner of Tasmania; the Dip Falls Forestry Reserve and the Tarkine Forest Reserves at Julius River, Lake Chisholm, Milkshake Hills and the Wes Baker Falls. These areas are now easily accessed from Arthur River Village by a fully sealed road loop, the Tarkine Drive.

INCLUDE ARTHUR RIVER IN YOUR DRIVING LOOP AROUND TASMANIA-
The first section of the Western Explorer Road heads south from Arthur River Village for 15km, running close to the coast. This is also part of the Tarkine Drive and this section was sealed recently. The Explorer turns right off the Tarkine Drive after it has turned inland at Couta Rocks. This is a great way for heading south to the lower Tasmanian west coast and, in due course, to Hobart.
Beyond the Tarkine Drive, parts of the Western Explorer are unsealed as far as Corinna, but it is suitable for an ordinary 2 wheel drive car, driven with care, as it is well-maintained.
The road first traverses open heathland and then forest to reach Corinna, on the Pieman River.
Corinna is a charming, historic place on the north bank of the river, with one provider of accommodation and camping. There is a small food shop, but a surprisingly large bar and restaurant.
You can cross the Pieman River on the "Fatman", a privately-owned barge (limited hours, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm in summer) to reach Zeehan, Strahan and other points on the more southern parts of the West Coast and, of course, Hobart.
The road south of the Pieman River is all sealed. Make sure you have plenty of fuel in your tank. The first fuel pump is at Zeehan.
EXPERIENCE THE REALLY WILD TASMANIA-
You will be sandwiched between the wild, virtually deserted coast and the Tarkine Forest, thanks to the unique position of the Arthur River Village, right on the rugge…

I am friendly outgoing person who has lived in this area all my life. I grew up fishing, water skiing and white water canoeing ( 50 km upstream) on the Arthur River and love living in Tasmania.
