A place to make beautiful memories. Let the waves whisper you to sleep in this lovely private cottage in a charming garden. Take a dozen steps from the lounge to the sand. Gather an armful of driftwood for a fire in the fire pit on the edge of the beach. Watch the surf, the birds, the ships, or enjoy a brisk early walk along the beach to the mouth of the river. Our usual $135 p.n. is discounted to $96 p.n.for first 10 bookings as we get back to normal. We need guests! So come and stay.

Eignin
The cottage was once a beach "shack" that has just been totally renovated, and is quite delightful. It is on the beach, facing north, looking out across the strait towards Victoria on the Australian mainland. It captures all the sun, and is warm winter and summer. The reverse cycle air conditioner/heater deals with the rest. It is light and airy, and we rarely have flies, and no mosquitoes. Doors and windows stay open often day and night.

It is close to the street on a "no thru" road, with a covered car port at the front door. There is level access into the cottage, and just one step inside. Whilst not perfect for the disabled, its very good for someone with some mobility issues. Please talk to us about what you need and whether we meet your requirements. Families are very welcome, understanding that children must be supervised at all times.

The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a superb view of the surf to the horizon - from bed. In the main bedroom there is a walk in closet and shelving, dressing table/desk and chair, crisp white linen, plenty of pillows, spare blankets, electric blanket, bed lamps, ceiling fan.

The second bedroom has a single bed and single trundle bed which will lift up on legs to normal height (or be used at the lower level which seems to work well for small children). If one person is using the room the second bed is out of the way concealed beneath the other bed. There is a large 3 door wardrobe with lots of shelves, bedside table and lamp, fan, full length mirror etc.

The bathroom has a generous shower, vanity and toilet, lots of towels, hair drier, tissues, toilet paper. The laundry alcove has a trough and automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, brooms, and there is a clothes line outside.

The stunning new kitchen provides dishwasher, microwave, generous fridge/freezer, under bench oven and ceramic hot plates, with all the equipment you could possibly want if cooking appeals. We have a selection of herbs and serving dishes to make it easy. The kitchen has a large sliding window to a server bench and BBQ. The dining area seats 6 for dining with "The View".

The open plan lounge area has a comfortable double sofa bed with innerspring mattress, large TV, recliner chair etc. The sofa bed area is not private of course since the living space forms an open "L" shape. We have provided every comfort we can think of to make your stay enjoyable. The cottage is stunning for two, three, or four adults, perfect for a family with children, and definitely full for six (but fun!) There is a USB charger on one of the power outlets. There is wireless internet access, not fast, but ok. Mobile phone coverage is good. There is a herb garden (help yourself); and a nectarine tree, in season of course.

On calm nights you can gather driftwood and light a fire in the outdoor fire pit beside the sand, whilst watching the sun set over the sea. The outdoors are very large, seriously close and stunningly beautiful.

The rear gazebo has outdoor seating and in the late afternoon it is just lovely to sit there with a glass of bubbly, coffee or whatever takes your fancy. As it becomes darker, the solar lights flicker on in the boardwalk lighting your way to the sand.

The cottage and its land are entirely yours to enjoy. Whilst we live adjacent, no host contact is necessary. There is parking for 3 vehicles or a camper van or caravan (with 15 amp external power socket). There is a Tesla charger at the cottage. The beach is used generally only by half a dozen local residents. It has sand, rock pools, crabs, swimming, rock, driftwood and shell gathering, within 20m of your back verandah, and all within view of the lounge and kitchen. Snorkel for rock lobsters, catch flathead off the rocks, look out for passing whales, observe shipping for the port of Burnie, the busiest port in Tasmania; and enjoy a drink on the back verandah at sundown while the children hunt for crabs (within view).

Annað til að hafa í huga
On our little beach we have a small penguin colony, they are hard to see, but with patience you might be lucky. With respect to safety, we have gates from the yard to the street. However it is your responsibility that children do not access the street via either gates or front door of the house. Across the road is the 4 m elevated train line. The property has no fencing on the beach side. Each day 2 or 3 slow trains take about 1 minute to go past, just the same as all the other beach area accommodation right along the NW coast from Devonport to Burnie. We all hear them but they quickly become background. Yes, It's a peculiar aspect of the town planning of the entire NW coast that most houses within a view of the beach "enjoy" a very close acquaintance with the train line, which runs from end to end through all the towns, and some of the most beautiful scenery in Tasmania: sadly it does not take passengers any more.

You turn off the Bass Hwy at the roundabout onto our street. The highway is close to us, which is a plus for commuting around the NW coast. When there is no ocean noise there is a level of traffic noise in the morning particularly. But this is a low volume country highway with a speed limit of 30 on the roundabout so has no comparison with a city freeway. There is a constant and permanent white noise of the ocean surf which increases when its windy or stormy. We want happy guests, who like what we have to offer and have a wonderful time. Fortunately its rare to have anyone else!

Heybridge, Tasmania, Ástralía

We are in a small enclave of old waterside "shacks" on the edge of the bay at Blythe Heads, the mouth of the Blythe River. Our beach shack has been "rebirthed" and is rather special. The street is old, but the neighbours are nice. For us the extremely rare, unique and intimate connection with the beach, and convenience of the nearby highway outweigh the older buildings of our street, but for some of our guests we have been downgraded to a 3 because of this. We don't want anyone to be disappointed, so please consider if this is important to you. We are only 50 m from the main Blythe Heads roundabout, the area is called Heybridge, 6km from Burnie. (Google maps street view is 15 years old and most misleading). We are very easy to find, and easy as a base to access various Northern Tasmanian attractions. Historic Stanley, Cradle Mountain, Sheffield, Chocolate Factory, Raspberry Farm, Angove Cheese, The Hellyers Road Whisky Distillery, The Purple House at Forth, Penguin shopping, Ulverstone shopping and restaurants, Devonport Spirit of Tasmania (30 minutes) and many more are within easy visiting from here. The smart shopping enclave at Wivenhoe (4km) has cafes (yummy vanilla slice at the bakery) , restaurants, butcher, supermarket, ATM, deli, etc.

We retired to Tasmania from the B&B industry some years ago and now find ourselves back in business in a small way. We have travelled extensively. We spent a number of years building alternative houses in the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria. Stone, underground/earth sheltered, passive solar, underground fire shelter bunkers etc. then moved into the boutique accommodation industry for 15 years. We aim to be relaxed hosts, staying out of the way unless you need us, doing our best to ensure a great experience for our guests.

We live in the cottage adjacent. We operated a multi-award-winning boutique hotel and in-house B&B for many years. Now we are retired (almost!) and hope we can provide you with the best possible guest experience. If you find you need something we have overlooked we hope you will ask. You may see us in our yard from time to time but you need only interact with us when you wish to. For some stays we may not be there but will always be available by phone 24/7. We do emphasise that during the Covid-19 situation guests can enjoy the cottage and the beach with no need to be near any other people. Bring your food, there is a large frig/freezer, and tuck in for as long as you choose.
