A special note about COVID-19 — as a host, your health and safety is my number one priority. I am very conscientious about bleaching/sterilizing every load of laundry, and sanitizing every surface, light switch, door handle, etc. in the house between guest stays. I want to reassure you that as a host, I’m doing everything I can to make sure you will have peace of mind during your stay.

Welcome to my home! This is your own private apartment -- the entire second level of what used to be a corner grocery store. Built in 1902, the space is super unique, comfortable, and modern, yet retains its historic and charming character. Located near downtown, the U of M, and the Mississippi river. Enjoy the spacious, open layout, take advantage of the beautiful private backyard, and explore the neighborhood! Please note that this is the upper level of a duplex -- the apartment is private and entirely yours, but there is a separate apartment below you where other guests will be staying.

Brand new for 2021: I just built an authentic wood-fired SAUNA, perfect for relaxing on cold winter days. The sauna is located in the backyard, and has a changing/cool-down room. It's a fantastic experience. *SPECIAL NOTE ON THE SAUNA DURING COVID* Being that the sauna is shared with other guests and we need to be mindful of Covid safety, I operate the sauna based on a "reservation" system: when you book, I'll send a link where you can schedule your sessions. I'll start the fire in advance to get it ready for you. I keep plenty of time between sessions to clean and air the sauna out. Inherently, this limits how often anyone can use the sauna, so while you'll likely get to use it plenty during your stay, it might not always be exactly when you want, or as often -- I appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we all keep each other as safe as possible!

In the mornings, brew some locally roasted coffee or tea (I provide both) in the sunny kitchen, and have breakfast outside on the deck among the treetops overlooking the large, wildflower-filled private backyard, where, later in the day, you might decide to stroll down the spiral staircase to the yard and have a barbecue, or sit around the fire pit on a starry night with a drink, or have a rejuvenating sweat in the sauna.

The apartment will sleep five people, but is most comfortable with two or three.

I live nearby, and am always available by phone whenever you might need anything!

There is one bedroom, with plenty of room to hang up your clothes, and a super comfortable queen-sized memory-foam mattress with lots of pillows and a down comforter. There are bedside tables with lamps and outlets for your phones. The living room sofa is comfortable and can accommodate one person, and I can also provide a queen-sized self-inflating air mattress if needed.

There is one bathroom with tub/shower, sink, toilet, plenty of fresh white towels and washcloths, a hairdryer, and complimentary shampoo/body wash.

The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm -- convection oven and gas range, fridge, pots/pans/utensils/dishes, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, plenty of counter space, good knives, and a concrete rolling island. Just off the kitchen is a cool birch tree-painted room with a breakfast counter, which leads out to the second-story deck.

—————
LIVING/DINING ROOM
—————

The living area is open and light-filled, with lots of plants and art. There's a large sofa, a chaise lounge, and our custom made coffee/end tables. In the adjoining den, there is a desk, a sofa, and a large flat screen TV with all the streaming services and a great soundbar.

—————

—————

You have your own private deck, and also access to the yard below via spiral staircase. The backyard is a special spot. Fully fenced in, it feels super private and a world away — plenty of decks, lounge spots, garden beds, and a fire pit for you to enjoy on a chilly evening with friends. Best of all, there's a brand new wood-fired sauna for you to enjoy -- perfect for the wintertime. The yard is also a great area for photo shoots — weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or anything else!

—————
LAUNDRY
—————

There is a washer and dryer in the unit, fully free and open for you to use at any time.

Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bandaríkin

I know this neighborhood inside and out, and will provide you with my ultra-awesome, comprehensive neighborhood guide when you book :)

The takeaway: you're in the epicenter of the best food, drink, coffee, art, and culture in town, walkable to most of it. If you're a beer fanatic, you're a stone's throw from over a dozen local breweries.

You are within walking distance of three of Minneapolis’ most award-winning restaurants:

- Hai Hai (a 5 min walk)
- Popol Vuh (10 min walk)
- Young Joni (15 min walk)

When you venture out, you will find yourself in the heart of the Northeast Arts District -- a safe, charming residential neighborhood that is within 1-2 miles of coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and all manner of excellent restaurants, bars, and attractions, in addition to incredible local breweries, hundreds of artist studios, and more.

Our street is a designated bikeway, among many others that cover the entire city. Minneapolis is one of the best biking cities in the country, and we provide maps and route advice to get you just about anywhere.

We are close to the center of downtown, the Minneapolis chain of lakes, and Target Field (the new Twins stadium). The largest art crawl/festival in the nation, Art-a-Whirl, takes place directly in our neighborhood every May.

I'm a lifelong Minneapolis resident, and I love introducing guests to my neighborhood. I'm a food writer and the editor-in-chief of Meal Magazine, as well as a touring guitar player. I've been hosting on Airbnb for 5 years, and it's really gratifying to meet new people, welcome my regulars, and make everyone feel like they're a VIP while they're in town.
