One of our 3 ‘Stylish Fife Holiday Lets’ - The Wall House was converted in 2020 from an historic fishing net repair building (hence the high walls! ) it's old outside but energy efficient & modern inside. The Wall House is also designed to be fully accessible to a person with restricted mobility.
Set in a Fife seaside conservation village it's a 'get away from it all' location but just a short drive to Edinburgh, the East Neuk & St Andrews.

Eignin
Stunning purpose built seaside getaway with double height kitchen and a mezzanine twin bedroom. Accessed via a disabled friendly ramp with fabulous large French doors. The Wall House is able to sleep one guest with restricted mobility on the ground floor, it has no thresholds throughout & also a ground floor accessible wet room...read further for more details.

The Wall House sits within the landscaped courtyard garden of No55, both properties share the outside space and the entrance gate from the main street - there is plenty of privacy & space for both. (Or both can be rented by one family)

The Wall House is freshly decorated & both stylish and comfy. Here’s what you might want to ask...

Q: How many people does The Wall House sleep?

A: A maximum of 2 guests. There are 2 single beds with very comfortable orthopedic mattresses on the mezzanine level.

Q: What’s the living area like?

A: The living room has a very realistic electric stove for cosy winter nights - it even makes log crackling noises. There’s a comfy sofa, blue John Lewis armchair and large comfortable Terrence Conran armchair. The collection of paintings downstairs are original landscapes & the dogs on the mantelpiece are 'Wally Dugs' - a traditional Scottish ornament. There's a nest of side tables, bookshelf with an eclectic mix of reading materials & lovely stained glass cabinet where you can store your wine bottles.

The Wall House is stocked with lots of books & jigsaws for rainy or just relaxing days....It’s in a small peaceful fishing village (just 2 streets). You’ll really feel as if you have stepped back in time...where else can you go for a beach stroll to look at the seals after dinner?

There’s a wall mounted TV with all the usual freeview channels.

There’s also basic Wi-fi for your use. The Wi-fi is enough for Facebook, Emails, internet searches, WhatsApp etc but it's definitely not fast enough to download large amounts of data, play games etc. The Wall House, like much of the village has a patchy mobile signal. WhatsApp, FaceTime or WiFi calling are your best bet within the house. If you walk to the harbour you’ll get the best signal!

Q: Where can we eat?

A: There is a mahogany antique wooden kitchen table with extremely comfortable Italian large dining chairs. It is perfect for 2 but also extends to double in size - so you can sit & do a big jigsaw here on a rainy day.

Q: What about the kitchen?

A: It has a stunning double height kitchen with oak worktops and open shelving. It is well stocked with the type of kitchen equipment you might need on holiday. It has a large colourful retro fridge/freezer, oven & a new microwave. Tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt, pepper are always provided for you.

Q: What about the bedroom?

A: The twin bedroom is situated on the mezzanine level with a balcony overlooking the kitchen/dining area. The main wall has a stunning mural wallpaper by Scottish design company ‘Bluebellgrey’. It is light and bright with a small grandfather wardrobe & bedside table with drawers for storage. There is a velux roof window with blind.

Q: Is there a shower?

A: There is a good sized wet room on the ground floor with tiled floor & white 'wet wall'. The shower operates as both a rain shower & handheld. Because the water tank is directly above the bathroom there is great water pressure & it's a fabulous shower!

There are grab rails (beside sink & shower) for those less steady on their feet & a toilet riser & shower chair can be organised if you let me know in advance.

Q: What the sleeping arrangement for those with impaired mobility?

A: The John Lewis sofa downstairs converts into a bed with the addition of a specially made mattress. The mattress is 180 x 105 x 23 cm - so larger than a single but smaller than a double. The height from floor level to top of mattress is 64cm.

(Please note that the downstairs bed is solely for guests with restricted mobility who cannot access the bedroom and NOT for an additional 3rd guest.)

Q: What about outside space?

A: There’s a fully enclosed landscaped courtyard garden which slopes up from the main entrance gate to The Wall House. In summer it’s a sun trap & full of butterflies & bees. The oversized French doors can be fully opened and attached to the outside wall...making the kitchen area feel like an indoor/outdoor space.

Please note the garden & main entrance gate is shared with No55, another holiday let. Please be mindful of & friendly to any guests in No55.

Q: Do you welcome children?

A: The Wall House is unfortunately not suitable for small children & infants. The mezzanine balcony & upstairs window area could be extremely dangerous to fearless children! Better to be safe than sorry.

West Wemyss, Fife, Bretland

The village and surrounding area is a haven for wildlife, including a resident seal colony. Gannets and arctic terns from the Bass Rock can be viewed feeding around West Wemyss in the summer months and dolphins are also frequent visitors. The beautiful Fife Coastal Path runs through West Wemyss, keen walkers can take on the continuous 117 miles across the sandy shores and coastal pathways or can just walk smaller sections of it!

There are of course a huge number of local golf courses in the area in addition to the multitude of courses at St Andrews, the home of golf.

The nearby harbour of Dysart is within walking distance and was used in the filming of Outlander. There is a Harbour Masters house in Dysart where you'll find soup and a sandwich, lots of information about Outlander and also the Coastal Walk.

West Wemyss has a community run pub which is open 3 nights a week (Friday/Saturday/Sunday). Do come in. We're all very friendly and it's a good way to find out about life in the village. Occasionally there's live music and often there's a domino competition!

There's also a small cafe (open weekends) in West Wemyss serving coffee and cake. You are guaranteed a warm welcome.
You'll also find a small heritage centre in the village (open weekends) and Tam who works there will be overjoyed to tell you about the rich history of the local area...not to mention the famous Wemyss caves.

I love welcoming guests to this lovely corner of Scotland. In my past I travelled all over the world and even lived in Russia for 11 years. These days I’m very much settled in Scotland & when I’m not cleaning & ironing for my 3 holiday lets I love hill walking - any time I get the chance! Being set on the Fife coastal path I love my daily beach walks, collecting beach pottery & seal watching. I love creating beautiful, comfortable & welcoming spaces for visitors & I want all my guests to have a very special holiday experience in Fife, Scotland.

I live nearby in the village (about a 4 minute walk away) so am always on hand to help. I'll give you your space & privacy but just shout if you need anything!
