My goal in life: To sleep undisturbed between 9pm to 4am. I do not welcome guests who disturb my sleep between those hours, at any cost. I am a _rather_ experienced traveler, and have hosted many travelers. I suppose you are using Jakarta as your first base for your Indonesian trip and would like to also get to know the city. This 'homestay business' was started several years ago when I hosted travelers with the objective of introducing other cultures to some of my family members who haven't had the chance to travel much (i.e. my nieces and nephews). But I noticed that my neighbors also got the opportunity to interact with some guests who intentionally roam around the neighborhood to understand Jakartan kampung a bit. Because everyone was happy embracing the opportunity of such interaction, I decided to open my door to more travelers. At that time, I had only one extra bedroom in my house, hence some of the travelers had to be refused because the room was already booked. When one neighbor needed to sell a house, I bought it and renovated it for 4 months to improve the flow of fresh air and bring more direct sun light to make the house brighter and more energized. The homestay was opened on July 28th, 2014, and I have heard many positive interactions between the guests and my new neighbors. I hope that this homestay brings only positivity. I have stayed in some 5-star hotels and stayed once in Budget Inn (a dark, damp small dungeon with sticky floor in Bukit Bintang, Malaysia). I know that you do not need the St. Regis bed (I don't need St. Regis bed), but I understand that bed needs to be fresh, dry, clean, and hard, and every room needs to have natural light. I intend to keep the price as low as possible to keep the guests come and facilitate some cultural exchange in any way and positively color the neighborhood. I hope I could continue on doing so for a long period of time. If you need to print anything, there are several cyber cafes that opens 24/7 (except around Idul Fitri holiday). Water, tea and coffee are available in the kitchen for you to prepare yourself, simple breakfast is available at neighbor's food stalls. I seldom visit Rumah Tani Betawi because I am currently working on my dissertation, but I do visit it at least twice a month. My base is in Family Homestay Syariah. Important warnings: Out of the hundreds of guests who stayed, I have asked 3 guests to leave prematurely because they violated the house rules: 1. Do not drink alcohol in the house. 2. Do not bring prostitute. 3. Do not jump over the gate. 4. Please be the better version of yourself.
