This is a roomy (144m²), comfortable, clean house set in beautiful countryside. The house faces south to a lovely view over the rural landscape. It is within 7 minutes of Mortain a historic town, restaurant and supermarket. It is within 15 mins of major regional towns, 40 mins for Mont St Michel. There is a lawn and mature garden. It is on a quiet cul de sac with almost no traffic. Woodland and riverside walks are within 2 minutes. There is a BBQ and bicycles. We have WiFI, TV. Log fire.

Eignin
Lets start with the kitchen; the kitchen is modern and spacious. It includes: fridge/freezer, freezer, dish washer, double sink, coffee maker, microwave, a range (6 gas ring hob/electric double oven), extraction fan. We have tried to provide everything an enthusiastic cook might need (such as spice grinder, electric mixer, weighing scales, good quality sharp knives, copper bottom saucepans, etc). There is a solid (English) oak dining table in the kitchen. There is also a dining table in the adjoining room if you want to use it. Both rooms have views over the Normandy countryside and both have double doors opening to the large patio/sun deck. The sun deck has seats, lounger, table, two parasols and full size table tennis. We have bicycles (4 adult, one is a small adult/teenager size), a set of golf clubs, TV, Wi-Fi and a B-B-Q are all available. Please note we have not supplied helmets for the bicycles. There are board games and a set of bowls for beach. Parking is off road beside the house. The utility room adjoins the downstairs hallway, it contains a new shower (with a radio – never had one of those before), toilet, sink, washing machine, and a tumble dryer There is and clothes drying rack. Across the hallway is a large dining room/spare room which has double doors to the patio. Going through the kitchen is a front room with TV, double settee, 2 armchairs and a woodburner (firewood supplied). The side of the house with the fireplace is the original old wall, retained when this house was otherwise completely rebuilt 8 years ago. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, a bathroom (bath/shower, toilet, hand basin, hair dryer). There are 2 double bed rooms and another bedroom with 2 single beds (one of these is a folding bed). There is an exercise or massage machine (not sure what it does) in the hallway upstairs. A cot with bedding is available. There is not, at the moment, a toddler proof stair gate or a high seat and in that regards cannot describe ourselves as toddler or infant friendly in that regard. Nevertheless there are rounded corners to the oak kitchen table (the top homemade from solid oak); making the top I remembered how my toddlers aimed for sharp corners with their heads first.
The garden is private, it is not overlooked and it is contained all round by hedge and fence. A wood fence separates it from the drive way. The patio/sun deck is not overlooked from any direction. The patio/sundeck is wood; the BBQ area is paved (fireproof) and located in the lawn next to the patio.
On the hill behind us is an extensive and mature natural wood of Sweet Chestnut, Beech and Oak. There are many fast flowing streams in it. There are several paths and tracks through it; there is no restriction on access but one should respect this is a privately owned woodland and used for hunting (the hunting season generally lasts from September to the end of February).

Within 2 minutes walk of the front door is an extensive mature natural woodland of Sweet Chestnut, Beech and Oak It has many streams running through it. There are deer. We watched a large pale and silent owl hunting in a nearby field one night. It is little visited, the paths and tracks are rough. The nearest village (hairdressser, bakery) is Romagny (5min). Nearest supermarket/town/restaurants is Mortain (7 min). There is a medical centre there. There is riverside walk/cycle route at Romagny. Normandy Maine Natural Park is 15 mins away (to the east). Large towns in the vicinity are Sourdeval (19min), Vire (30 min), St Hilaire du Harcouet (15 min - great open air market every Wed) and Villedieu les Poelles (37 min). All full of character and interest. In the area there are festivals and events celebrating, cider, music, classic cars, fashion and cheese throughout the year. The coast (Granville, Mont St Michel) is about 45 - 55 minutes away.

We are Darryl and Jocelyne; currently we live/work in Ireland. Jocelyne is French (her first language) / Irish by origin and is from the island Mauritius (in the Indian Ocean, in the Seychelles region). Darryl is English /Welsh by origin and raised abroad in East Africa. We enjoy reading, walks, cooking, travelling, theatre, restaurants, sailing, motor cycle touring, and woodwork.
We are attracted to France because of its civility, friendliness, charm, food, wine and countryside. It has a interesting heritage and history, many beautiful towns, cities, castles and churches and beautiful forests and landscapes.
We are new to welcoming people to use our house for holidays. However we have stayed in hotels and self catering rentals in UK, Ireland, France and Mauritius.

We live and work (at the moment) in the UK, but you will be welcomed and assisted by a local team who look after guests and our property for us. We began renting the house recently. We have decided to rent our house to guests for a few years until we are able to move there ourselves.
