This little self-contained cottage is situated on 17 acres just south of Bridgetown, an historic town in Australia’s renowned Southwest region. Our place is secluded and tranquil, ideal for anyone local or regional looking for a spot to isolate and relax. We are an easy 5-minute drive to town for supplies and have fast wifi available.

Eignin
This charmingly renovated cottage is comfortable, clean and cosy. It is generously sized, featuring light and airy open plan living that includes a bedroom partition, living area, and fully equipped kitchenette with stove, fridge and microwave. There is a separate bathroom with toilet and shower. To ensure you are comfortable, the cottage has both a wood fire and reverse cycle air conditioner for those cold ‘Fridgetown’ nights or hot summer evenings.

The cottage has private access and parking and is separate from the main homestead. Access is via a short path that has some stairs (an alternate route can be arranged if stairs are a problem). Outdoors there is a small paved courtyard to soak up the sun, and a shady table amongst the trees for al fresco dining. This is also a wonderful spot to do some bird watching.

There is no TV, but we do have board games, books, and the great outdoors. Free Wi-Fi is also included if you need to look up the birds or trees or do some work.

Although the cottage is designed for couples, we can accommodate up to 3 if someone is willing to take the floor mattress (but do keep in mind that it is a studio space, with only a partition between rooms).

We are situated a short 5-minute drive south of Bridgetown on the border of a State Forest. You are welcome to explore the paddocks and the bush trails behind the house to your heart’s content (just make sure to close any gates you go through). And of course, use this as a base to visit Bridgetown and surrounding towns.

The Warren-Blackwood region is known for its produce and wine, so you can get a personal tour at one of the local cellar doors, visit the truffle farms of Manjimup, or pop in for a homemade pie at Tasty Edibles in Greenbushes. Bridgetown itself is situated on the banks of the Blackwood River and there’s plenty of kayaking, hiking and cycling for outdoors enthusiasts. The Shire is also full of artists and creatives so if that’s more your thing, we recommend a visit to The Rabbit Hole which houses 9 artists’ studios and hosts ongoing exhibitions.

I am a photojournalist because I get to be creative, curious and most of all, active. And as a story-telling Zimbabwean married to a web designing, documentary film making, ex-Aus Navy diver, our motto is 'Never a Dull Moment'.

Essentially we're attuned to a great adventure and an equally good meal to go with it. But whether we're battling flies in WA's wheat fields in a bid to see the wildflowers or feeding rhinos in Zimbabwe's Zambezi Valley, we've agreed on one thing - we've moved on from backpacking.

So if we host you in our cottage we shall share all our local adventuring secrets and make sure your stay is as far from backpacking as possible.

And if you let us into your home, we'll treat it like our own (and I'll never admit this out loud, but there are definitely some OCD cleanliness genes embedded deeply inside me).

Oh yeah. One more thing. I realise my profile picture is not strictly 'Davina' only but if I'm travelling, Steven will probably be leading the way, so you may as well get a glimpse of both of us now.
