Come enjoy our cozy 1940 cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon! We recently rebuilt, updated, and expanded it. Two levels plus a loft provide abundant space. Refinished Douglas fir floors on the main and second levels and the original stairway between add inviting charm. Lots of windows offer beautiful views and bring in ample natural light. About 45 min from the Salt Lake airport, on a deep lot that backs onto the creek in a residential area. The cabin is delightful year-round.

---------------------
There's a full kitchen, including microwave, stove, fridge, and dishwasher. Additional appliances include coffee maker, electric griddle, toaster, and blender. The kitchen features a heated tile floor, and is stocked with pots, pans, plates, cups, silverware, and basic ingredients. Bar-height dining table with six chairs is next to the kitchen island with two bar stools. Kitchen and dining area flow into the main-floor living room. An enclosed gas fireplace heats the cabin. A second living room with another gas fireplace is upstairs. The third level is a large cozy loft open to the second floor. Outdoor decks extend from the living rooms on the two main levels. A full bath is upstairs and a half-bath is downstairs. A tankless water heater provides endless hot water. There are a washer and a dryer, great for drying cold, wet clothes after playing outside.

The second-floor bedroom features a queen bed and marvelous mountain views. In the second-floor living room are two couches for relaxing and watching the 55" screen TV. The 3rd-floor loft has a pillow-top queen bed (a very thick mattress on the floor, no box spring) and a single bed. The loft is a cozy area where kids love to play. The main floor living room has a couch with a comfortable, firm, pull-out queen bed. We rent the cabin to families and groups of up to six people. Note that limited privacy within the cabin makes the place ideal for a family or adults willing to share space.

Stairs to 2nd floor are original and open on one side with a hand railing. You get to the loft by climbing a built-in "ship's ladder," steep stairs like a ladder, built into the cabin.

The lot offers all the variety you’d want in a mountain setting: groves of pine trees around the cabin, open field in back with a large fire pit and stone seating, and a shaded hill that descends to the banks of Big Cottonwood Creek where there’s a tree-sheltered area to picnic, camp, or just relax. You can listen to the creek, stargaze, or bird-watch from the two northeast-facing decks. Moose and deer visit occasionally. Look for snowshoe rabbit tracks in winter.

Aðgengi gesta
There's WiFi with high-speed Internet service (15 Mbps download). There's a large-screen TV with a Blu-Ray/DVD player. We have some DVDs and you're welcome to bring your own discs. There's good cell phone service.

We’ve collected guide books to help you enjoy the local geology, animals, plants, as well as prepare you to explore other amazing areas in Utah. We've stocked the living areas with a variety of books and board games, art supplies, puzzles, and toys (Lincoln Logs, dolls, Legos, wooden trains and tracks).

Brighton, Utah, Bandaríkin

The cabin is in the Silver Fork residential community, just 1/4 mile from Silver Fork Lodge (great restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner), just below the Solitude Resort, 3.5 miles to the Brighton Resort, and only about 40 minutes to Snowbird and Alta in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Dozens of mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, camping, snowshoeing and back-country ski trails and areas are nearby. Neighbors have had great success fishing in the creek and nearby Silver Lake.
Besides the Silver Fork Lodge, there are a few restaurants at Solitude and some eating options at Brighton. The closest grocery stores are 14 miles away in the valley (see our Guidebook for suggestions).
In summer and fall, Park City is about a half hour over the mountains (via Guardsman Pass; usually open Memorial Day to early Nov); in winter and spring it's about an hour going around the mountains.
