This 2BR is an entire floor of an 1870 brick house, gut renovated in 2019. There is an amazing, peaceful creekside forest glen directly behind the building for your enjoyment in any season.

The house is walking distance from Main St and central Beacon. It's a perfect space for up to 4 people escaping to the Hudson Valley.

This is a newly renovated and restored (spring 2019) full 2 bedroom apartment in an 1870 brick building. The apartment went through a complete gut renovation at that time - removing walls, rearranging the floorplan, adding a bedroom, all new electrics, insulation, floors, kitchen, bathroom, etc - and all new furniture and decor. I am continuously updating the apartment, so it may have more amenities than what you see in these photos.

The kitchen is entirely new and fully equipped. All cabinets and appliances are brand new (stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher). There is a toaster and a coffee maker with coffee, sugar and creamer. The kitchen contains various pots, pans and a full set of dishes for cooking. The refrigerator has an ice maker and water filter. There is plenty of counter space to cook on.

The kitchen, living room, and dining room are a single, open space. The dining area has a large table, 3 chairs and a bench with a dimmable overhead light. The living room has a brand new Ethan Allen leather couch and a coffee table. There are two windows in the living/dining area with views of Fishkill Creek and Mt Beacon.

The large bedroom has a queen sized bed, two night stands, two dressers, and two closets. The smaller bedroom (the one with the exposed brick wall) has a full/double bed, a two nightstands, a small dresser, and huge closet.

The bathroom is large and updated with a bathtub and a full sized window overlooking Mt Beacon and Fishkill Creek. The open plan living/dining room has a dining table with chairs and a bench, a couch, a coffee table, and a brand new 40" Roku TV. I have additional desks, dishes, and furniture available as needed for working from home, etc.

The outdoor space is amazing, unique for this area and super peaceful. Though the front of the house is on a major street, the back of the house is a Hudson Valley gem. Directly behind the house are abandoned railway tracks (last used in the 1960's). Beyond that is a broad strip of forest next and Beacon's famous Fishkill Creek. On the other side of the creek is more forest with mossy rocks and the ridge of Mt Beacon in the distance (views of the mountains are better in the late fall through early spring).

Just upstream of my house are some rapids in the creek, which provide a seasonal backdrop of the sound of running water. Downstream, the creek slows down. About half a mile down (you can walk it on the tracks in about 10 minutes) you get to Beacon's famous waterfall, the Roundhouse, and Main St.

Regularly seen wildlife include deer (pretty much every day), ducks, geese, blue heron, hawks, turtles, fish (I wish I knew what kind), raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, beaver (I haven't seen them but I've seen the trees they chew), and a cute chubby groundhog (also seen nearly every day). My favorite is the blue heron, which is a large bird with a long neck and long beak. It glides super gracefully right over the creek, following every bend at about 30 feet up and hardly flapping its wings at all. There are also many species of smaller birds.

What is so amazing about the outdoor space is that it's so private and so close to the center of town. From the neighborhood and the front of the house, you'd never think of the area for its nature. But once you get to the back you're in a different world. I have no residential neighbors, so you pretty much have the place to yourself.

Because of the value and the location, I tend to be booked fairly solidly. The good news is if you're reading this, it's probably available when you're planning to visit :)

Beacon, New York, Bandaríkin

The apartment is a short walk from Main St, but a fairly long walk (or short cab/Uber) from the train station and Dia. This end of town has more shopping, galleries, art studios, the Roundhouse, the waterfall, and more of the beautiful old architecture. It's a great place to be, particularly if you're spending more than an afternoon here in Beacon.

The abandoned railroad tracks run right behind the building. You can walk along them to the center of town (Main St, Roundhouse, etc) in about 10 minutes. You can hike in either direction for miles for an adventure along Fishkill Creek. You'll see plenty of nature, abandoned and repurposed industrial sites, secluded areas, and a couple bustling intersections.

If you're not into walking on the tracks, you can also get to Main St along Fishkill Ave which has a sidewalk the entire way, once you cross the street.

Directly across the street is Memorial Park (a huge park with various sports fields and a dog run). Ron's Ice Cream is the closest shop. It's famous for simple kids food like hamburgers & hot dogs - particularly popular with kids after playing in the park.

I am actively clearing and landscaping the outdoor spaces alongside and behind the house.

I was born in Montreal, Canada grew up in Chicago and San Francisco and then lived in New York City for 15 years. I love to travel to historic places around the world - and always stay at AirBnB of course! Recently I decided to buy a small building in the super cool town of Beacon, NY and start hosting myself.
