Our farmhouse is located 35 miles northeast of Eau Claire in Chippewa County. You'll love our place because of its location close to scenic forests, rivers, lakes, parks and trails. In under 30 minutes, you can be sampling local artisan beer and wine made at one of six wineries and breweries including the Jacob Leinenkugel brewery in Chippewa Falls. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

River to Ridge farmhouse is central to thousands of acres of inspired adventure in the form of county forests, State Parks, and National trails. Chippewa County boasts 449 lakes and streams, including Lake Wissota, the largest lake, as well as 24 classified trout streams for fishing, paddling or boating. Fish on the Chippewa and Holcombe Flowages for panfish, catfish, bass, northern pike, walleye, musky or ancient sturgeons. Enjoy whitewater kayaking on the Chippewa River during any one of the scheduled releases in Jim Falls!
Land lovers can enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, or ATV experiences on miles of scenic woodland trails, including the 19.5-mile Old Abe paved trail for hiking, biking and roller-blading, the 22-mile Hay Meadow equestrian trail, the 23-mile Ice Age trail, or the 27-mile groomed cross country ski trail at Hickory Ridge. There are over 19 miles of ATV and over 500 miles of funded snowmobile trails in Chippewa County.
Forage, fish and hunt in the county forest, or gather fresh, local ingredients--eggs, berries, fruit, vegetables, chicken, beef, honey or cheese---at any number of farmer’s stands or markets. I have been offered so much beauty and kindness in my life, so I love that this place allows me to pass it on. My own journey has included memorable stays at hostels and Airbnbs. I recall one stay in particular when I arrived late, after dark. The generous host quietly showed me to my clean, comfortable room with her 5-year-old daughter Mavis--in braids, rain boots and pajamas--in tow.

I woke the next morning to the aroma of good coffee and quiet sounds coming from the other room. Still in my pajamas, I followed the sounds and came upon a grandmother rocking her 6-month-old grandson on the porch, several guests reading books, and a newlywed couple with their golden lab preparing for a hike along the North Shore---all with a majestic view of Lake Superior in the distance. For me, this was the beginnings of a perfect day as we laughed, shared favorite recipes, book titles, tips and fresh berries from my garden. We cleaned up the kitchen together, exchanged numbers, and packed up for our own adventures for the day.

This is the intention of River to Ridge—waking up to community in the corridor of a peaceful space that offers the opportunity to share, learn, and seek adventure outside ourselves. Namaste.
