Það sem verður gert

The North End is famous for its Italian food but it is also the first settlement area dated to 1630. We will cover it all - 1600s to 2020s. Come along for the historical “ride”. We will meet near the Boston Public Market and take a loop through this welcome addition to the Boston food scene. We will cross the Rose Kennedy Greenway and travel into the North End up Salem Street exploring the side streets as we go. We’ll see the exterior of the Old North Church and see the second oldest burial ground Copp’s Hill. We will see the Paul Revere monument and the last remaining Charles Bulfinch Church.

We will see a private memorial to the Saints as we pop in and out of markets and bakeries along the walk. We will talk about the Great Molasses Flood, the Brinks Robbery, and Ponzi.

We will conclude our tour in front of Paul Revere’s House.
Other things to note
Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.

Bring cash and reusable shopping bags in case you decide to shop along the way.

North End is cash oriented!!!

I want to introduce you to Boston’s original settlement. It has changed over the centuries and is now the North End (Boston’s Italian section).

We will explore the history of this important neighborhood and visit the many markets and bakeries along the way.

You can make food purchases during the tour or take mental notes of where you want to return to after the tour.

This tour is for anyone interested in history, urban politics, the “big dig”, and of course food!!

Come with your curiosity and we will cover Boston’s past especially the vibrant and unique North End neighborhood.

Ellen is the tour guide every guide wishes they could be. She definitely is the best of the best. She gives her tours all her effort and it shows. She is thoughtful, funny, insightful, helpful, and entertaining. I had two tours before hers and I felt reinvigorated during her tour. I was so thrilled with her tour that I called my brother to share what I heard.

If you are thinking of going on a tour with Ellen, GO! This was our second trip with her and we loved every second of it. She is a super engaging speaker, and will take you to all the best places-- not just the most common touristy ones. She is super knowledgeable and friendly, and the tour is so reasonably priced. we are already planning our third tour!

This tour is an amazing blend of history with modern facts about the North End! You will see so many beautiful buildings, streets, and churches while hearing wonderful stories about the great role it played in history. Ellen also provided us with many great recommendations that enhanced our trip long after the tour was over! My whole family enjoyed the tour and even my relative from Boston gained a ton of new knowledge :)

Enjoyed my tour of the North End with Ellen! Learned some history, local lore, and all the good food spots. We even met Peter who keeps the Saint shrine. A delightful day and experience, I highly recommend taking a tour with Ellen!

We had a great time with Ellen, a nice mix of history and food- plenty of back stories to the businesses/sites which made the tour very memorable.
