Það sem verður gert

Discover what a tea ceremony is really about, and even receive a certification. We have high-quality matcha tea from Uji—the most famous tea production area in Kyoto—and sweets from a traditional Japanese confection store in Gojo. During this experience, you'll learn that the Japanese tea ceremony is not only about drinking and eating. People enjoy the ceremony with the feeling of the four seasons and the respect for the ordinary day. Therefore, you will feel differently at every tea ceremony because each moment is its own event in time. In Japanese, this is called "Ichigo Ichie"—literally meaning “one opportunity, one encounter.” The term is also often translated as “for this time only” or “one chance in a lifetime.” We'll begin with an introduction and lecture about the tea ceremony and you'll learn the manners that guests should practice at a tea gathering. You'll then watch one of the best demonstrations of the tea-making procedure before trying to make your own tea in a hands-on activity. At the end of the class, you'll get a tea ceremony certification. Let's share a priceless moment together through my tea ceremony.
