You can be a SUSHI MASTER! and learn basic Japanese ingredients, easy and practical cooking way and food culture in my lesson. We will cook miso soup and 3 varieties of sushi, like nigiri sushi, traditional rolled sushi and California roll. This class is private course so it is possible to focus on your question and personal interest. In addition, you can feel ordinary Japanese life in my kitchen.
Firstly, I will show you how to make sushi rice and “dashi” which is traditional Japanese soup stock made from fish and seaweed. After that, we will make sushi and miso soup. Finally, we will eat all dishes together after finished cooking.
WHAT TO EXPECT
・Understand basic Japanese cooking method and ingredients
・Learn how to prepare all the ingredients to make sushi like making sushi rice and slicing fish with a Japanese sharp knife
・Make 3 types of sushi by yourself
・Learn how to make dashi broth and miso soup
・Taste local premium sake selected carefully
My lessons are not only about watching demonstrations but also putting them into practice as I would like to give you enough information to help you recreate everything on my dishes when you return home. Moreover, I can suggest which ingredients are better to use instead of Japanese one since I struggled to get them while living in abroad.

Hi! I am Saeko. I'm certificated as an international kikisake-shi (sake sommelier), and have worked as a professional food stylist & a recipe creator. My city named Nishinomiya is one of the most historical sake regions. I always explore new cooking way and sake for food paring.
I was born and raised in Osaka. I used to work as a Japanese chef in Denmark and traveled over 20 countries. Living abroad, I enjoyed teaching my foreign friends Japanese cooking and drinking together. We could know each other through those experience. If we eat and drink together, I bet we can be good friends.

2) Teach authentic Japanese cooking without using instant condiments

Staðsetning
My home cooking studio is nearby Mondo-yakujin station. It takes only 20 mins from Osaka (Umeda) and 30 mins from Kobe (Sannomiya) by Hankyu train line, and is located in Nishinomiya-city. Nishinomiya has a lot of sake breweries, and is one of the most popular places to live for Japanese people in the Kansai area. Though it is not well-known to tourists, I guarantee that you can feel the ambiance of an authentic local Japanese.

Cooking class with Saeko is a very enjoyable experience. She was well prepared and we started cooking soon after our greeting.
Saeko writes instructions and demonstrates the process of sushi making clearly. She taught us about other aspects of the food culture in Japan. We learned just what we need to know to go home and make our own miso soup and sushi.

Saeko-san's cooking experience gave a deeper understanding of how sushi is made, and where the subtle tastes come from. I didn't think much about how rice was prepared before I took this class, but now I understand how to use vinegar, sugar, salt, dash and other ingredients to make the rice base tasty and have a good texture. Now I can make the complicated-looking bento sushi designs in my home without much trouble. It looks difficult, but Saeko-san made it easy to understand and prepare. All ingredients were healthy and fresh. Great Experience!
