Það sem verður gert

My hometown is very close to Cu Chi Tunnels where I will guide you to the historic area and explore the daily life in the nearby village by bicycle. You will discover how people do farming on the "death land" after the war and how to make the spring rolls from rice paper. One of my sisters makes the rice paper by hand at home then you will have a chance to see how the rice paper made from rice powder traditionally. Be prepared to be brave and sweat in the tunnels and be joyful in the garden and the kitchen as you will prepare your lunch in the style of local people.

I was born in a small and quiet village close to Cu Chi Tunnels where my other 2 sisters were born underground. No tree can survive in the village due to the bombs during the war but now it's fruit-full through-out the year with rice field, peanut and tropical fruits.

Managing a few big projects in an IT company in HCMC that makes me pretty busy all the time, except weekend. I love travel and going back to my hometown every weekend to enjoy the country life is the sweet moment as ever that I want to share.

I can be reached via email at nhung.huynh.nguyen@gmail.com or WhatsApp: +84 918296542 for further info.

Staðsetning

Will stop at a local market in early morning to join the daily life with people there. We then will go further to the drainage system starting from my mom's house where the farmers get water from Dau Tieng Reservoir and where you can see a wide field for rice and peanut and join with the farmer during the harvest. Cycling along the canals which is used for local people only to reach the tunnels at the end will be the unique moment for you.

We went on this excursion with just one other person, but it was so fun! The three of us had a wonderful time meeting Nhung's family and exploring the tunnels. The tunnels are a thoughtful and well-maintained historical attraction. The quality of food on this experience is amazing! Everything was absolutely delicious (and seemingly bottomless!). It was an unexpected pleasure to learn so much about daily life and growing up in post-war Vietnam. Nhung is truly an amazing person.

My wife and I went on the Cu Chi tunnels tour in February 2020. While the tour focuses on the tunnels, this is really a food/culture tour where you meet and get to hang out with Nhung's family. This made it one of the best and most powerful travel experiences of our lives. Even if you chicken out in the tunnels (guilty) the memories I'll most take away are hearing the stories of Nhung's family. Her mom is an actual war hero and Nhung and her sisters went through tough times after the War but things are really improving and it was incredible to see how they can put the past behind them. Nhung's family fed us more food than we could ever eat and it was all incredibly delicious. Even if I am terrible at rolling spring rolls. This is one of the best experiences I've ever had traveling and I cannot recommend it highly enough. You should absolutely do this tour if you ever visit HCMC. Could not be more highly recommend.

This was a wonderful experience! It was a packed day - a market tour where we picked out fruits we had never tried before, breakfast, touring the tunnels, more food, a bike ride around the area, and then MORE food and a tour around the garden. Nhung was very warm and talkative, and was able to make everyone feel welcome. I don’t know how often the tour has less than 5 people, but ours did which made it a bit more personable! Just be prepared if that happens, you will have to cover the cost of the drive out ($50/however many people there are that day). It was still very worth it for us, but we are just super budget travelers (aka college kids) so it was a little hard for us to cover it. Even with than that the day was amazing and so worth it!

Nhung took us on a tour of her neighbourhood near the Cu Chi tunnels and invited us to her mum’s farmstead surrounded by banana rice and rubber plantations . You felt like you were participating in a family meal and Nhung’s sister was a brilliant cook and made breakfast and lunch - delicious. Nhung took us to the tunnels then we had a bike ride along the canal which was a good way yo see the surrounding countryside. It’s a long day but worth it if you want to see something of how locals live as well as tour the tunnel area.

This is a MUST DO! It has genuinely been the best part of our Vietnam trip. Nhung is one of the nicest people we’ve ever met and getting to know her, her mom, sisters and nephew in their home setting was just SO special. And the food, the food the food the food, just so much of it that her mom and sisters cook for you. She also took us to the market and said to pick out all the fruits we’ve never seen or tried before and she bought it all so we can try. Of course, her explanation of the war, and her family’s history with it made the tour experience unlike other tours we’ve done. Unfortunately you don’t get to see the delta market, but honestly, it didn’t matter given all the other things we experience in this tour. I wish I had asked her to give us a tour of her family farm, so recommend you ask if you’re interested. Do this tour, you will not regret it!!!!!
