Það sem verður gert

***ALSO CHECK OUT MY OTHER TOURS OF BYWATER AS WELL!*** Home to historic mansions, hauntingly beautiful cemeteries and giant oak trees, this district is the romance of New Orleans. Close to the St. Charles streetcar, we meet at Lafayette Cemetery to tour one of the oldest cemeteries in New Orleans. See the above-ground tombs New Orleans is known for and learn our unique traditions! (*** PLEASE NOTE: currently, the cemetery is closed for repairs- during this time, we'll still be able to see into the cemetery and discuss the history and I will supplement the walking tour to see some of the mansions and historic homes the Garden District is known for).
Then it's on to the food at 3 stops- enjoy a favorite neighborhood eatery to enjoy local Gulf seafood. Next stop, Dat Dog for booze & sausages like gator, crawfish, hot Creole & duck (veggie options available)! We finish with a Creole dessert: learn the history of chicory cafe au lait and beignets! During walks between stops, learn our lingo, traditions, architecture and a little history. Curated food, a curated cocktail, coffee, tax & tip are included in your ticket so you can sit back and relax! Will accommodate allergies/dietary restrictions if told in advance!

A New Orleans native, I work with some of my favorite chefs to help you eat like a local! My tours will get you out of the French Quarter to taste and experience what makes New Orleans food culture so unique! I've been organizing food tours since 2013- I worked for Dishcrawl and am licensed as a City of New Orleans Tour Guide and own my own food tour business, which won the 2018 "Learning Experience of the Year in Louisiana" Travel and Hospitality Award (THA)! My tours are great for couples AND groups- let me do the planning so you can relax, knowing you're getting a great experience!

Staðsetning

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is the oldest of the seven municipal cemeteries in New Orleans- see the above-ground tombs we are known for and learn about interesting traditions and history. Red Dog offers a fresh take on southern Delta comfort food and easygoing hospitality. Joey K's is real New Orleans food "cooked like your Mama"- a fave with locals. Finish at The Vintage: a stylish, classic coffee shop for cafe au lait and trio of stuffed beignets.

Michelle is an excellent story teller about New Orleans history that I never would have known otherwise. She is personal and was able to accommodate my vegetarian diet. Delicious food that I look forward to going back to!

Michelle was AWESOME!! She really helped us get a feel for the area, had great personal stories and was knowledgeable about the local history. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and definitley well fed! We made it to some really awesome restaurants and had some great food tastings during the walking tour. By far one of the best things we did in NOLA during our time there over Mardi Gras 2020. THX Michelle!

Michelle was a fantastic host/tour guide. Having lived in New Orleans, she did a great job on filling me in on things that had happened since I was last there. We talked the whole time, and the time flowed by. She had intimate knowledge of the city, people, neighborhoods, and communities. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn the true spirit of the city.

Michelle was absolutely wonderful! She is the kind of the friend you ask for recommendation for secret restaurants and interesting stores in town. It’s been 3 weeks since my tour with her but I can still feel her passion about the city and her neighborhood, and her excitement when she was sharing her love of the city with us. I fell in love with chicory coffee because of her, and she was one of the few tour guides (I had 7 during the trip) that made me fall in love with New Orleans and also live like locals. I highly recommend her tour to the community.

My best friend and I had a great time!!! All of the food was amazing and the drinks delicious!! We started off at the Lafayette Cemetery and learned things we never knew before. lWe learned about the history of New Orleans and the food, which was fun to know about. There was a great personal level with Michelle and she shared her own stories of her life in NOLA. We treasured the walks throughout the neighborhood to see how the construction of the houses changed over time too! This tour was so much more than just food. Michelle made us feel at home! At the end of evening, over some coffee and AMAZING beignets (first of many throughout our trip), Michelle wrote down some other recommendations for us while we were in town. The night was amazing and we were so much happier doing this rather than struggling to pick where to go out to eat! Thanks Michelle! :)

I would highly recommend Michelle's tour of the Garden District. It was fun! In the tour was my husband, me, and another couple, so a nice comfortable group where we could ask questions and easily have conversations. By the end of our tour it seemed like Michelle was our new best friend😉 She gave great suggestions for other places to go based on where we were staying. And it didn't end there, after the tour ended she texted a few more recommdations that came to mind. Michelle adapted to our gluten free, dairy free food restrictions, which made all the difference for us. She is a native of New Orleans and a wealth of information -she knew the answers to all our questions about the entire city, not just the Garden District. Note that the tour includes a cemetery tour but the cemetery is currently closed. It worked out fine, though. We were able to look through the gate and learn all about it.
