Það sem verður gert

Join me on a Vermont adventure as we climb to a rocky summit with spectacular views, followed by an optional dip in a local swimming hole!

In the morning we will hike up one of the tall peaks along the Green Mountains' famous Monroe Skyline, where you can expect outstanding views of the Champlain Valley, New York's Adirondack Mountains, and even the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The hike will be approximately 5.5 miles and is fairly strenuous (see "Guest Requirements" below for details). On the way we'll talk about the history, flora, and fauna that make Vermont a special place.

After descending the mountain around midday it's time to check out a local swimming hole and cool off! The Mad River and its tributaries offer plenty of casual swimming opportunities for all ages. I hope you'll join me on this little adventure in the mountains!

I own and operate an inn-to-inn walking tour company in Vermont's Mad River Valley. I am a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and Leave No Trace Master Educator, and I have experience as a mountain and river guide in southern Colorado. I also spent a semester training with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho.

My wife and I live on a mountainside in Duxbury, Vermont with our gentle giant of a dog. I love meeting new people, so no matter where you're from, I'm excited to show you a few of the reasons we love Vermont!

This is a strenuous hike so hiking shoes are a must. Please follow Peter's instruction and come prepared for a strenuous 5 hour hiking. Peter is a knowledgeable guide and made sure our group stay safe during the hike. I would highly recommend Peter as a hiking guide in beautiful Vermont.

Peter is correct when describing this as a difficult hike! Make sure you follow his guidance to have adequate footwear and clothing, and his suggestion to bring a change of clothes is spot on. You can tell safety is Peter’s top priority for this hike. He is able to make plenty of suggestions so the hiker feels comfortable and confident moving through the terrain. Peter knew where we were at all times. I went solo as a female hiker and felt very safe with him. It was a cooler day, but this hike will still have you sweating! His timing was perfect - we left at 9am and got back to our cars right before 2pm, and I don’t consider myself a fast hiker. He gave me time to take pictures and was very accommodating to whatever my needs and interests were. He is attentive to breaks and discusses safety and techniques throughout the trip. This is so worth it!

Peter was a great host . Very easy to talk with . The hike was sometimes difficult but the views were worth it ! Peter was patient and gave me tips on how to navigate some of the challenging areas I would highly recommend and I would do it again next time I am in Vermont
