Það sem verður gert
We will first start by going to the beach near our downtown Art Shop in Puerto Plata to hunt for sea glass. This beach is loaded with sea glass so it will not be hard to find! Then we will come back to the art shop to enjoy a fresh cup of Dominican coffee and use the sea glass to make whatever kind of design/jewelry you would like!

Project Esperanza is a non profit organization that primarily serves the Haitian immigrant community here in Puerto Plata. We have been here for over 10 years and have a variety of projects to help give back to the community. One of our favorite projects is our Art Shop located in downtown Puerto Plata! Here we sell a variety of souvenirs hand made by local artists, with all proceeds going back into the community.
Um samtökin: Project Esperanza
Our organization primarily (but by no means exclusively) serves the Haitian immigrant community in the forms of education and community development projects. We currently have two grass roots schools that are supporting over 200 students. We also have two Art Shops as well as a Boy's Home, along with a variety of other projects. You can find more information at our website, esperanzameanshope.org!

This beach is located just a few blocks from parque central and next to the Malecón. There you will see a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and the amazingly blue water by the San Felipe Fortress.
Project Esperanza is a wonderful, down-to-earth organization that exists to provide education, housing and loving care to Haitian immigrant children who have no other resource. We were greeted personally by a co-founder named Caitlin and her children in their store, Good Fruit Designs, and were given the history and the mission of Project Esperanza as we made our way to the beach. Everything about making the jewelry, from gathering the glass, to making the pieces, to talking with the volunteers and children at the store, was a learning experience. This is ecotourism at its finest. Please participate and not only have a one-of-a-kind memento from your time in Puerto Plata but support a worthy cause. Their store also boasts handmade jewelry, bags, and other crafts that make authentic, affordable gifts. 10/10 recommend this excursion! The natural juice was delicious and they provided a variety. They have Wifi free in the store and they have a small cafe with some authentic Dominican food, so you can eat there as well. WHERE TO FIND IT: it is on calle separacion. If you are in the park with the gazebo and the cathedral of san felipe, then turn left on the street behind the cathedral. Their little store is adjacent to a cigar and jewelry store named Fifi Jewelry and Cigars.
