Það sem verður gert

After meeting at the meeting point, we will take you to see some hidden treasures. Places, tourists usually won't see. You'll have time to take pictures of many outstandingly beautiful temples and a historical shrine. The temple walk will last about four hours, so please be prepeared and wear sneekers or shoes you feel comfortable in. At the sites you'll feel as if you were in a different time - promise! Enjoy the serenity of the gardens. It's amazing to find such places in the middle of a modern city - you will see. On the way, we will taste green tea at a tea shop and if you like you can buy Macha or Green Tea and later during the walk we will taste Kamaboko (fishham) when passing a small factory that has produced this delicacy for over a hundert years and Umegae Mocchi (a typical Hakata sweet). After the walk we will take you back to the meeting point if you wish.
Other things to note
We do the tour with small groups only - 1 - 6 guests. We like to keep it intimate so we can answer individual questions. The walk is enjoyable even on a rainy day but you'll need rainprotection. Due to the special Covid-19 situation, we ask our guests to wear facemasks - as will we.

Masato was born in Fukuoka and Anne in Europe.
We lived, worked and traveled in Europe and Asia and we both really love temples and shrines. The beauty of those wooden buildings, their gardens and their history has captured us.
Come with us for a walk to the temples, get some insight into their history, take pictures of those precious places.
On the way we will taste green tea, Umegae Mocchi (a typical Hakata sweet) and handmade Kamaboko (fishham) produced by a small factory that has existed for over a hundred years.

Staðsetning

We will be around Hakata area - off the beaten tourist tracks and visit several Temple sites, which we find absolutely beautiful. We love the calmnes of the gardens and the many oportunities to take most wonderful pictures. But most of all, we love the feeling of Japan's history.

Anne and Masato were very informative and gave a very detailed and interesting tour of the temples and shrine of fukuoka. I would recommend this tour to anyone that likes religion, history or just curious and want to explore fukuoka like a local. Some special events only happen certain time of the year but it doesn't distract from the tour.

I had spent a wonderful half-day in Fukuoka with the accompany of Anne and Masato, they treated me to delicious local foods and also recommended me other interesting trip courses. If you come to Fukuoka, please choose their city walk!

I've told all of my relatives that live in Fukuoka to go on this tour. There is so much that is uncovered in this experience and I enjoyed every moment. Masato and Anne are wonderful, funny and endearing. They've created a tour that kept my head spinning, so much awe, appreciation and information- I struggled to write everything down afterwards. I could spend another week going back to the places we went to. Some lucky perks were freshly made kamaboko and getting to see the Rokkakudo, a hexagonal building at Tochoji, only open one day per month (the 28th!). I highly recommend this to anyone. Even those in living in Fukuoka, I feel would learn a lot!

It was really good experience to me. I have visited several cities in Japan and it was second time for Fukuoka, but I had no knowledge about Japanese Buddhism, Gen and 神社 such like these. Masato and Anne they are enthusiastic and so professional to tell the stories around these and I could learn many. Also, the places they took me to have break time, green tea, fish cake, mochi places were really authentic and could never be found myself. The best tour thing was Buddha statue in the Tochoji temple. 강추합니다

It’ was truly an amazing time with Masato and Anne! Anne and Masato have profound knowledge of Hakata local history, Japanese culture and customs. We get to understand Japan and Fukuoka by walking through the ancient neighborhood, tasting yummy local street food and visiting the beautiful temples and shrines. I have no reservation to recommend any visitor traveling here.
