We're going to be learning the basics of brush lettering and modern calligraphy using markers and materials found around your house. We'll start with an overview of the cursive alphabet and some basic drills to get the strokes down, and move into writing your own letter forms and developing your own style using free downloadable practice sheets or any paper found around your home. Our time together can be used for practicing lettering or come prepared with a quote or saying in mind to try to letter as artwork!
Other things to note
Please make sure you have ZOOM downloaded and up to date as we will be utilizing that for the workshops. I recommend using this on your laptop as well so that your hands can be free for the duration of the workshop.

I'm a full-time freelance artist who specializes in modern calligraphy, sign painting, photography, and more. I have a bachelor's degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and have been working as an artist for 8+ years professionally. I have taught many workshops with POST Detroit at their shop and at Eastern Market, and recently was teaching lettering at some of my favorite local bars and restaurants (Lost River and The Charlevoix GPP). Grab a glass of wine, some of your markers around the house, and lets get lettering!

I emailed the instructor since I never received her handbook prior to the course. She never responded. I paid $50 for that course it was an anniversary gift for me abd husband to take together and her lack of response is unacceptable. Without the handbook this course is worthless!

Loved this experience! It was such a fun way to spend an afternoon in quarantine. We made a pretty sign and it inspired me to make more on my own! I would also do this workshop again because Nicole mentioned that she switches up the signs that you make. :) Highly recommend this one!

Nicole was very friendly, accommodating, flexible, and of course, a super talented artist. The hour we spent together was fun and engaging, and we learned so much! She's clearly very experienced and knowledgable about hand lettering, typography and design—she can field all the questions and has a wonderful, unique style. Would recommend!
