Það sem verður gert

We will walk the streets of Boston starting at the Massachusetts State House and delve into the lives of women from the colonial era to today in chronological order with sites that are relevant to, and support, the story of their lives and influence on the formation of the United States of America and society in general.

We will start with Anne Hutchinson at the State House and site of the Old Corner Bookstore. Next we will explore the life of the slave Phillis Wheatley and why she should be a household name at the Old South Meetinghouse. We will “meet” Mercy Otis Warren and her writings and Abigail Adams at the Old State House. Onto Beacon Hill, Boston’s most prestigious neighborhood to explore the influences of Margaret Fuller, Elizabeth Peabody and Isabella Stewart Gardner. We will round out the tour by looking at the great social worker Amelia Earhart before she was the great and famous aviator ending with the living sculptor Nancy Schon who created the beloved “Make Way for Duckings” sculpture in the Boston Public Garden.

We will walk the streets of Boston at a leisurely pace discussing our ideas of the women of history in relation to these known and lesser known women that have had an impact on history.
Other things to note

Hello! Welcome to my home - Boston. I am a professional tour guide in Boston leading tours for cruise ship visitors and custom tours for another high-end company. I have several tours on Airbnb Experiences but feel compelled to add this one because the women of history are under represented.

I have done extensive research on the women influencers who are from Boston or spent time in Boston during the formation of their important ideas and actions.

This will be an interactive tour. I want to expose you to these women and then together we will reflect on their impact during their time and beyond into today - into our own lives.

These women were visionaries in their day and their thoughts and actions have influenced future generations.

I want us to explore what impact they have had throughout time and place into our own lives.

Ellen is one of the best prepared people I’ve ever met. There was the notebook with pictures of the women and quotes. Her excitement and love for history is infectious. The passion with which she tells the stories of all the women is wonderful. She took the care to include Native and African American women through Bostons great history! I cant encourage anyone enough. Run don’t walk. Get your history on!!!

This is a great tour! We had done a 3 hr tour in the AM, and were a bit done in, but Ellen’s dynamic and passionate presentation kept us engaged and the time flew by. Ellen was also super thoughtful of stopping at places where we could sit and listen. Very inspiring to hear about strong smart women making a difference throughout history! Don’t miss this rich immersion in untold histories.

An amazing well spent two hours walking tour with our host Ellen containing a great amount of (for many) mostly unknown history of strong independent women from all walks of life. Ellen was very precise and clear in her presentation, and joy to be with. Vigdis

Ellen is very knowledgeable about the area. She doesn't pass up on teachable moments even if they are not directly related to the tour's theme. She's also very mindful of the group's comfort: sitting breaks, shade, bathrooms, etc. I look forward to a future experience with Ellen :)
