Það sem verður gert

A homemade goat milk soap bar is a wonderful, handcrafted artisan experience! Meet and connect with our small milk goat herd of Nubian and Oberhasli goats. Our dairy goats are so sweet and fun. They love scratches on their heads and shoulders. We will start our class with a tour of our 8 acre urban farmstead where you will meet the goats, pigs and horses that call our farm home. We will explain a bit about care, feed and milking goats. Goat milk fact: goat milk is the only milk naturally homogenized and digestible by all mammals, hence the term nanny goat. We will be making a cold process soap with goat milk, coconut oil, olive oil, lard and lye. Safety first! Lye can be dangerous. We provide chemical resistant goggles and long cuff gloves. Please wear long sleeves and pants and closed shoes. We will weigh ingredients, melt fats and oils, prepare milk and lye mixture and learn about tracing and saponification. The soap mixture will be put into molds to set (soap is hard and ready to be unmolded in 24 hours and ready to use in 4 - 6 weeks). You will be leaving with aged bar of goat milk soap ready to be used on your skin and hair. We love our goats and our farm made goat milk soap and we look forward to sharing with you.
Other things to note
We will be handling lye.

We had a fantastic time make soap and exploring the farm! Loved everything about it, can’t wait to share and spread the word to others traveling in the area.

This was a unique and fun activity. Exploring the farm and all the farm animals was a highlight. Jayme and Robin were knowledgeable and interesting which made the soap making activity even more enjoyable. Great for families.

Jayme provides an authentic animal farm-like experience complete with pigs, chickens, dogs, horses, and, of course, goats - all of which she and her assistant are happy to introduce you to. The process of making soap is pretty straightforward and done unpretentiously in her farm kitchen. Mix together the lard, oil and lye and pour it into a mold. It takes several weeks for it to set up, so she allows you to take a few bars from her already made stock. She is very friendly and open about what she does and does not know about the process - but she makes it enjoyable to do and learn.

This is a fun experience! You get to tour the farm and see all the animals with Robin and then learn to make soap with Jayme! They shared great stories about all the amazing things they do on the farm and for the homeless community. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, learned a new skill, met some cute animals and learned about what occurs on a farm! And the best part is, I loved talking to Jayme and Robin. Totally worth the cost! I’d highly recommend.

Very fun, got to meet all the goats and other animals. Hosts were very friendly and made me feel welcome. Making soap was fun and I learned a lot about the ingredients needed and the process of it all. Got to try some delicious goat milk from one of their goats. All the animals were very friendly.

I did this experience because I wanted to see it done before I made soap on my own. I’m so glad that I did! I’m going forward with a lot more confidence.
