Það sem verður gert

3 course meal: app, entree, dessert BYOB The beginning of the class you will get to know your fellow classmates and a little bit about the studio over drinks and small bites. Norristown is a historical area but only ten minutes from top designer stores. After learning about the location we will discuss the cuisine and talk about how it pertains to today. You will then be given a tour of the kitchen and a lesson on basic skills to make you more comfortable throughout the class. After a simple demonstration by me, you will then start prepping. I will be right there beside you helping along the way. Once the first course is done you will eat it and enjoy as you go. This process repeats until the final course. I will be there to help and facilitate but mostly for emotional support as confidence tends to drop with unfamiliar ingredients. At the end of the class I will share some of the suppliers/farmers information and offer recommendations on where to get certain ingredients so you can too cook what we learned in class at home.

I currently teach cooking and nutrition classes in Southwest Philadelphia at an after school program that enriches students with the arts. I am most passionate about giving back to the community and teaching others about food. I am a recent graduate of Drexel University's culinary program that awarded me several scholarships including the James Beard. With over ten years of working in restaurants and along side great chefs in the industry, I found that there was a need for food education and justice. My Pennsylvania Dutch roots have always kept me grounded to serve others and support local, sustainable farmers.
