Það sem verður gert
We'll explore some of the hidden treasures of the Los Angeles River's Glendale Narrows section. Full of birds, bugs and plants, it's a photogenic stretch with the dynamic and vibrant neighborhood of Frogtown just above. The LA River Corgis - Kasha and Chase - will also be on hand for their cameos.
Your guide, Anthea Raymond, is a long-time resident and kayaker active in the River communities.
From the adjacent bike path and pocket parks, she'll tell you about the the unique landscape and history of the river -- the birthplace of Los Angeles. She will also take you inside the soft-bottom riverbed.
You will also get the inside scoop on the creative businesses popping up next to the river as well as as plans to create a world class park there.
You will be outdoors and moving the entire time, which makes this an ideal outing for COVID times.
Other things to note:
Wear your walking shoes. Bring a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle, and, of course, your smartphone or camera!
We'll provide the corgi treats. Be ready for some corgi hugs and kisses.
Feel like raising the adventure level? Let us know and we can schedule special routes that take you to the LA River's yet-untamed left bank. These walks would meet at different locations and might include a stop at a former train yard.

A native Angeleno, I live a block from the Los Angeles River with my friends Kasha and Chase, the LA River Corgis. I love the water, nature and, of course, animals. I grew up near the beach and serve on the County's Beach Commission. I have also taken thousands of people down the River in kayaks during the summer months when the river becomes a giant park.
I love changing neighborhoods and am very active in projects related to improving the River and the area around it. We have done more than one hundred of these walks. Each one has been a little different, but always lots of fun and full of surprises for us and our guests from around the world.
Thanks for thinking of us. And reach out if you don't see a date that works on our calendar. We will work with you. We are also glad to check out other places you might want to se

Staðsetning
The Glendale Narrows section is the crown jewel of the mostly concrete Los Angeles River. It is green, lush and houses a variety of wildlife. The area around it is changing rapidly, with former tow yards and metal shops transforming into creative businesses and interesting restaurants and cafes. A new park is planned where a giant trainyard once was. We'll see how it all fits together, enjoying locally roasted coffee or maybe a beer on the way.

We loved our tour of the LA River and getting to walk the corgies! It was so fun to learn about the neighborhood, the plans for the park, and getting to stop at a local coffee shop. If you love urban design/planning or dogs this is the tour for you!

I had already participated in this experience with Anthea and the corgis last year and really enjoyed it. I got in touch with her to let her know that I would be in LA again, and she allowed me to pick a date that was convenient for me. The corgis were fantastic as expected, and Anthea explained new projects in progress in the surrounding area. Anthea provided insight and information that could only come from a local. I will be sure to participate in this experience again the next time I am in LA!
