Það sem verður gert

The street food in Yogyakarta is vibrant but is often left unexplored as travelers prefer going hip cafes, bakeries or bars and as a result, miss out on what is special about Yogyakarta's culinary scene. The angkringans (roadside stalls), warungs (local restaurants) and lesehans (roadside stalls where one would generally sit cross legged on the floor) are the places to be to taste authentic local food. However, it can also be daunting should concerns outweigh curiosity. Safety, hygiene and language barriers are all factors that often restrict one from being able to truly indulge despite the willingness to. Well, these worries can now be washed down as you make room for a new adventure.

This walking street food tour provides a comprehensive look into the street food scene in Yogyakarta. It’s obviously a huge part of people's lives here that you simply must not miss out on! The tour also passes by historical attractions and your host will be more than happy to delight you with snippets of history as you chomp your way down the streets.

So, come join me as you eat your way through Jogja's famous Malioboro and Kraton area and uncover the best eateries in town!

I have been a professional certified guide in the beautiful town of Yogyakarta for the last 9 years and an avid foodie for much longer. My favorite type of tours are the ones that involve food where my two biggest passion of sharing Javanese culture with the world & of food come together! I started the first street food tour in Yogyakarta and run tours on a daily basis with partnerships with hotels/hostels/guesthouses.

I was also approached by Netflix for their latest series 'Streetfood' where Yogyakarta is featured as one of their episodes. I was a 'fixer' of sorts for the crew.

Staðsetning

We will star the tour at the legendary Gudeg Street to try a dish made from Jackfruit that you cannot find anywhere in the world except in Yogyakarta. The tour then winds its way from the Sultan Palace to the famous Malioboro Street stopping by eateries along the way. You will also be enchanted with local history tales in between stops - it is unsurprising that many guests have remarked to this being a good kickstarter tour of Yogyakarta.

The host(actually the other person showed up) was pretty kind and thoughtful. The tour was pretty fair. But the foods were not the one I expected. So, if there were options i can choose it would be much better. Thanks for the tour.

Resti is the best guide I ever met. She was super on time, she has knowledge about everything (culture and the history of the country, Food, Music, Language... etc.) She was super nice, super friendly, she showed me everything with passion, she answered all my questions- and I asked a lot Hahahaha. It was just the best tour I have ever done. Full five star ⭐️ Recommendation.

This tour carefully puts together the most iconic must-try dishes of Yogyakarta. Think gudeg, bakmi, ronde, onde-onde, and charcoal coffee. Where this tour went above and beyond was in the ability to tell stories about the culture and personages behind the plates of food. Highly recommended.

Had a great time with our guide, Anisa. She took us to all great street food spots and also helped us with vegetarian options. The local stories and anecdotes are a bonus!

This tour was a great way to experience some of the foods Jogja has to offer. We really enjoyed trying some of the street foods that I don't think we would have been able to find on our own!

We met with our host and suddenly the messy city started becoming more structured, among infinite amount of fried food stalls with lack of hygiene (our impression from the previous day) we started seeing nice spots with local food. Even though we don’t eat meat, Jufi managed to find tasty options for us that represented the food culture in Indonesia and Jogja in particular. We loved the experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting the town!
